Faried leaves the Chinese Basketball Association after playing just seven games in which he averaged 17.3 points and 10.0 rebounds per game. The reason for his departure from China remains unknown, but some reports indicate that the 30-year-old is dealing with an injury.

Kenneth Faried spent the summer being largely overlooked by NBA teams and remained a free agent after the season began. He decided to join Lions on a one-year, $4 million deal in November. Faried will now most likely return to the U.S., and to try to land a spot on an NBA team in need of a rotational player.

Since becoming 22nd overall pick in 2011, Faried played with Denver Nuggets, Brooklyn Nets, and Houston Rockets in his career. In 25 games with Rockets last season, he averaged 12.9 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.

Kenneth Faried is the latest NBA veteran who decided to head to China. According to Sportando’ Emiliano Carchia, Faried will ink a deal until the end of the season with the Chinese Basketball Association side Zhenjiang Lions.

Carchia also reports that Faried’s contract is worth $4.4 million.

Kenneth Faried spent the second part of the last season with Houston Rockets, where he made a significant contribution in the wake of the team’s injuries on the center position. Faried ended up playing 25 regular-season games, in which he averaged 12.9 points and 8.2 rebounds.

Faried spent the majority of his career with Denver Nuggets, who took him 22nd overall in 2011 NBA Draft. After seven years in Denver, he was traded to Brooklyn Nets ahead of 2018/19 season, but only played 12 games before being waived.

This offseason, several prominent names from NBA decided to head to China before Faried, including former Toronto Raptors’ point guard Jeremy Lin and Los Angeles Lakers’ guard Lance Stephenson. The six-times All-Star Amar’e Stoudemire, who last played in NBA in 2016, recently also chose to play basketball in China, signing with Fujian Sturgeons.
