After sitting out the entire 2018 NFL season following an ankle injury, Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ linebacker Kendell Beckwith will have to do the same in 2019 as well. Bucs confirmed the news on Friday while announcing that Beckwith was placed on Reserve Non-Football Injury List.

Beckwith got injured in April 2018 when he was involved in a crash accident that left him with a fractured ankle. He had an ankle surgery and even returned to limited practice towards the end of the year, but Tampa Bay decided he is still not ready to be on the football field. According to sources close to the club, Buccaneers don’t want to risk anything as the 24-year-old’s injury might be career-threatening.

“You hate to see guys lose their career off the field,” – said Buccaneers’ head coach Bruce Arians. “For Kendell, he was a bright prospect and it’s just unfortunate. You have to move on. For me, I was never really counting on him coming back. I was hoping, but that’s one of the reasons Devin [White] is here.”

Tampa Bay took Kendell Beckwith, who played college football with LSU, in the third round of 2017 NFL Draft, and he ended making a significant impact in his rookie season. Beckwith started nine games in his rookie season and managed to contribute with 73 combined tackles (60 solo), 1.0 sacks, two pass breakups, a forced fumble.
