The Los Angeles Clippers star Kawhi Leonard scored 24 points to lead his team to a 121-104 win over the Miami Heat at the Crypto.com Arena. This is Leonard’s first game back from a four-game absence after suffering a left hip contusion. In addition, Leonard added six rebounds, five assists, and four steals to push the Clippers over the line.

“You see the performance,” Clippers point guard James Harden said of Leonard. “Both ends of the ball, just elite. Shotmaking, defensively, just being active, creating opportunities in transition. We needed that, [for Leonard] to get well and get better. We missed him.” Playing just 33 minutes against the Heat, Leonard surpassed 13,000 career points during the win.

Now on a three-game winning streak, the Clippers have won 12 of their last 14 games, pushing them up to fourth place on the Western Conference standings. The Clippers next face the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday night before taking on the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday night.

The LA Clippers star Kawhi Leonard has confirmed that he feels ready to return to the court this season following two years on the sidelines due to tearing his right ACL. Having fully recovered from his surgery in July 2021, Leonard participated in the Clippers’ training camp without restrictions or setbacks.

“I feel good and I’m ready to go,” Leonard confirmed before his most recent training session with the Clippers. “I think last year came off of ACL, so pretty much it’s like a two-year process. Talking to guys [who suffered ACL injuries] and seeing when they do start feeling good or just trusting your knee, it’s just something that you feel and I mean one day just turns around for you. So it wasn’t really nothing too different.”

Having missed the entirety of the 2021-22 season, Leonard started last season under careful restrictions. He missed 12 games after experiencing stiffness in his surgically repaired knee, after which he missed six games due to a right ankle sprain.

Los Angeles Clippers president of basketball operations Lawrence Frank confirmed that Kawhi Leonard is expected to be “100%” fit ahead of the team’s training camp in October. This comes after the forward underwent a cleanup procedure for a torn meniscus in his right knee.

“Just a cleanup, went terrific,” Frank commented after the Clippers’ draft on Thursday night. “Very quick procedure. He feels great. Eight-week recovery from time of surgery where you are back on the court playing like it was a game. We are very fortunate that it was just a quick little cleanup.”

Leonard is now on an eight week recovery timetable from the moment that he underwent his surgery on June 6. His comeback is viewed as vitally important to the Clippers’ rebuild, with Frank looking to build the team around Leonard and Paul George going into the new season.

Averaging 34.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 6.0 assists during the Clippers’ first two games against the Phoenix Suns in the first round of the 2023 playoffs, Leonard has proven to be key to the Clippers’ success. Injury resulted in Leonard missing the remainder of the series, with the Clippers ultimately going down in five games.

The Los Angeles Clippers president of basketball operations Lawrence Frank confirmed that the franchise remains committed to building a team around stars Kawhi Leonard and Paul George next season. Frank’s announcement came after the Clippers were dumped out of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs in a five-game series loss to the Phoenix Suns.

“When we traded for Paul and signed Kawhi as a free agent in 2019, it wasn’t for one or two years, wasn’t three or four,” Frank announced. “Every year you have those guys, they give you a chance. And so it’s about surrounding those guys to continue to improve your chances.”

Frank will be hoping that the Clippers will be able to make more use of both players next season after injuries cut their appearances short this season. George was sidelined for the last nine games of the regular season and the entire playoff clash with the Suns due to a sprained right knee, while Leonard missed the final three games against the Suns due to a torn meniscus in his right knee.

We finally know why Los Angeles Clippers’ superstar Kawhi Leonard only played two games in the first-round series versus the Phoenix Suns. According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, Leonard’s absence in the remainder of the series was due to a torn meniscus in his right knee.

Charania reports that Leonard’s injury was revealed after Game 2, prompting the Clippers’ medical staff to shut him down.

Kawhi Leonard delivered a pair of spectacular performances to begin the Suns’ series and even helped the LA team to steal Game 1 on the road. However, the 31-year-old player was ruled out for Game 3 on short notice and never returned to the court despite being designated “day-to-day.”

Without Leonard and already missing their second All-Star in Paul George, the LA Clippers couldn’t do much to keep up with the star-studded Suns. They lost the series in five games and are now heading to the offseason having a lot more questions than answers.

“It’s always in the back of your mind, ‘What if.’ It’s easy to say, ‘What if,’ because a lot of guys get hurt,” Clippers coach Ty Lue said after the Clippers lost Game 5. “It’s just been our luck the last three years.”

Kawhi Leonard previously missed the entire 2021-22 season while recovering from a partial tear of the ACL in his right knee. He played 52 games in the regular part of the 2022-23 campaign, averaging 23.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 3.9 assists.

The Los Angeles Clippers star Kawhi Leonard is an injury doubt going forward in his team’s playoff series against the Phoenix Suns. Leonard sprained his right knee during the Clippers’ Game 1 victory.

Although Leonard played through his injury during the Clippers’ defeat in Game 2, he was ruled out of Game 3 on Thursday night, with the Suns winning 129-124 to take a 2-1 series lead.

Leonard is being monitored daily by the Clippers’ medical staff, who consider his injury day-to-day. He will be evaluated before Game 4 on Saturday afternoon to determine if he is ready to return to the court.

“Symptoms got worse after Game 2,” president of basketball operations Lawrence Frank said of Leonard’s injury before Game 3. “Obviously, if we weren’t comfortable with [Leonard] playing [in Game 2], we wouldn’t have. But after the game, things didn’t get better. They got worse. So we will rule him out and kind of take it day by day.”

Following their Game 1 win, Clippers coach Ty Lue and his players expressed their belief that they could win the series. Leonard proved crucial in the first two games, averaging 34.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 6.0 assists, and 2.0 steals.

Kawhi Leonard proved to be recovering well after his long-term injury by helping the Los Angeles Clippers to a 125-118 victory over local rivals Los Angeles Lakers at a sold-out Crypto.com Arena.

Leonard played the entire second half for only the third time in his career, the last time being during Game 7 of the 2013 NBA Finals between the San Antonio Spurs and the Miami Heat. He finished Thursday night’s game with 25 points and seven rebounds.

“He said he felt good,” Clippers coach Ty Lue said of Leonard. “He knew how important this win was for us. And so he gave everything he had.”

“I thought I did a good job,” Leonard added, explaining that the trust he was able to put in teammates such as Norman Powell and Bones Hyland helped to make all the difference.

Missing the entirety of last season due to suffering a torn ACL, Leonard played his first consecutive contests last weekend for the first time since incurring his injury.

The injury that forced All-Star forward Kawhi Leonard to miss the second stretch of the LA Clippers’ postseason run has been more severe than it was initially assumed. The organization released a statement on Tuesday confirming that Leonard is dealing with a partially torn ACL in his right knee.

According to the statement, the 30-year-old superstar underwent surgery to repair the ACL earlier this week and is expected to make full recovery.

Although Leonard didn’t tear his ACL completely, he is still expected to be out for a significant period of time. The Clippers didn’t offer a timeline for his return in their statement, but the reports say that Leonard might be looking to a recovery period anywhere from eight to 12 months.

Kawhi Leonard got injured during the Western Conference semi-finals against the Utah Jazz. He went down in the fourth quarter of Game 4, and the team initially labeled the injury as a sprained knee. The Clippers went on to beat the Jazz but fell down to the Phoenix Suns in the conference finals.

Leonard enjoyed a good run in 2020-21, averaging 24.8 points in 52 games during the regular season. He also added 6.5 rebounds and career-high 5.2 assists. He was even better in the postseason, managing 30.4 points, 7.7 boards, and 4.4 assists before the injury.

Leonard has a player option with the Clippers for next season, which he was projected to decline and test the free agency. The injury might alter his plans, however, as he will most likely miss the better part of the 2021-22 NBA season.

Los Angeles Clippers’ superstar Kawhi Leonard joined the rest of the team in Orlando late last week, and it appears the health issues that troubled him earlier in the season are now of the past. However, that doesn’t mean Clippers won’t keep being cautious.

Speaking with reporters on Monday, Clippers’ head coach Doc Rivers said that Leonard has no limitations at the moment but the team wants to be “smart” about his workload.

“No limits. Kawhi is healthy for the most part,” said Rivers when asked about Leonard. “That still doesn’t mean that we don’t want to maintain him and get him through the first eight games and get ready for the playoffs. We want to be smart about this.”

Leonard nursed a knee issue during the better part of the 2019/20 season, which caused him to miss the training camp and sit out back to backs. But the 29-year-old seems to be fine now, as he used the break caused by coronavirus pandemic to rehab.

“I mean, I feel good,” said Leonard upon his arrival to Orlando. “You know, was able to work out, get strong and prepare for this moment now that we’re in. It’s about to be the first practice today, so I’m excited.”

Kawhi Leonard signed a three-year, $103 million contract with the Clippers in the offseason, teaming up with fellow All-Star Paul George in Los Angeles. Leonard immediately emerged as the team’s best player, averaging 26.9 points in 51 games this season. He also had 7.3 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 1.8 steals to show for.

Clippers currently find themselves as No.2 seed in the West with 44-20 record and 5.5 games behind the first-seeded Los Angeles Lakers. They are currently set to play against Dallas Mavericks in the first round of playoffs.

LA Clippers’ head coach Doc Rivers thinks that the NBA’s decision to suspend the season due to coronavirus pandemic might be a blessing in disguise for some of his players. According to Rivers, this break will allow Clippers’ star forward Kawhi Leonard to return in “phenomenal shape” when the season resumes.

Leonard missed a significant number of Clippers’ games in 2019/20 due to various health issues and tiredness. But Rivers thinks that those problems are now behind the 28-year-old All-Star thanks to the break he got.

“I know Kawhi’s overworking. I can guarantee you that,” said Rivers talking with reporters on a video call. “And the difference is, during the summer, Kawhi couldn’t work, you know, so now he’s got this break, and he’s able to train. The Kawhi we’ll see will be in phenomenal shape.”

Despite the issues he had this season, Leonard managed to maintain high production and lead the Clippers to the second seed in the West. He averaged 26.9 points, 7.3 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 1.8 steals per game before the season got suspended.

Leonard will not be the only Clippers’ star that will return in great condition, according to Rivers.

“PG [Paul George] is another guy that’s gonna be in phenomenal shape,” he added.

Paul George missed a number of games this season as well, after undergoing a shoulder injury in the offseason. In 42 games he was on the court, George averaged 21.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 1.3 steals.
