Veteran wideout Josh Gordon didn’t take long finding a new team after being reinstated by the NFL late last week. ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reports that Gordon has already made an agreement with the Kansas City Chiefs to play for the franchise in the 2021 NFL season.

Gordon reportedly had several teams interested in his services but opted for the Chiefs as he would like to find a long-term landing spot. He will initially be part of the team’s practice squad, with his promotion to the active roster being just a matter of time.

The news about Gordon’s decision to sign with the Chiefs was confirmed to Schefter by the player’s agents, Eric Dounn and Matt Leist.

By signing Gordon, the Chiefs fill a big hole at the wide receiver position that was left with the departure of Sammy Watkins in the free agency. The All-Pro wideout Tyreek Hill remains a consistent threat, but Kansas City didn’t have weapons down the depth chart to rely on so far in the season.

The WR and returner specialist Mecole Hardman and veterans Demarcus Robinson and Byron Pringle all saw significant playing time throughout the first three weeks but managed to combine for just 260 yards so far in 2021.

Despite his multiple suspensions in the past several years, Josh Gordon has been a reliable target when on the field. Since entering the league in 2012, Gordon played 65 games and had 247 receptions for 4,252 yards and 20 touchdowns. His best season as a pro came in 2013 when he caught 87 passes for 1,646 yards and nine touchdowns and picked up Pro Bowl and First-Team All-Pro honors.

Seattle Seahawks’ wideout core just received a major boost. According to multiple reports, the Seahawks have re-signed former Pro Bowl WR Josh Gordon to a one-year deal.

Seahawks still haven’t made the signing official, but the news was confirmed to ESPN’s Adam Schefter by Gordon’s agent David Canter.

Gordon is currently serving an indefinite suspension, but has applied for reinstatement earlier this year and is reportedly on a good track to receive a green light for the 2020 NFL season. With that in mind, Seattle approached the 29-year-old WR earlier this week and got the deal done.

Gordon started six games in 2019 with the New England Patriots before being released midway through the season. He was claimed by the Seahawks and ended up with seven receptions for 139 yards in a limited amount of snaps.

Despite the small size sample, the Seahawks were interested in a reunion with Gordon, with the team’s head coach Pete Carroll telling reporters last month that the veteran “fit in really well” with the rest of the roster. Carroll also stated that the organization was “very open” to bringing him back.

Seahawks already have Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf locked in as starters, but Josh Gordon has a good chance of landing the No.3 on the depth chart if game-ready. He will compete with offseason acquisitions Paul Richardson and Phillip Dorsett for the spot.

If wideout Josh Gordon manages to get a green light from the NFL to play in 2020, he already has a team that will welcome him with open hands. The Seattle Seahawks’ head coach Pete Carroll recently told ESPN that his team would be “very open” to Gordon’s return.

Gordon spent the second part of 2019 in Seattle, catching seven passes for 139 yards in five games he played with the team. However, the 29-year-old wideout didn’t get to finish the season with Seahawks, as he was suspended indefinitely for violating the league’s policies.

Gordon applied for reinstatement last month, and if the league allows him to play again, Carroll would love to have him on his team.

“It’s not in our hands,” said Carroll. “Josh did a really good job with us last year. He fit in really well. He was part of this team by the way we opened and embraced his coming to us but also by the way he adapted. So we are very open to that thought, and we’ll see what happens. I don’t know. I can’t tell you what’s going to happen on that.”

The last year’s suspension was the fifth for Gordon in the last eight years. This is the reason why the NFL might not be so favorable towards his situation and could potentially keep him on the sidelines for the rest of the year. If that doesn’t happen, however, Seahawks might get a scary weapon as they attempt to return to Super Bowl.

Veteran wideout Josh Gordon in set on playing in 2020. According to ESPN, Gordon is currently working with the league to have his indefinite suspension lifted.

Gordon was suspended back in December after it was found that the 28-year-old WR violated the league’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs and substance abuse. This was the fifth time that NFL handed Gordon a suspension for similar violations and his sixth overall.

Reportedly, Gordon will now have to prove that he is abiding by the league’s rules and is making progress off the field. The NFL commissioner Roger Goodell will personally oversee the player’s reinstatement case.

Josh Gordon started the last season with New England Patriots, after his most recent suspension, which he earned in December 2018, was lifted. Gordon had a great Week 1, catching three passes for 73 yards and one touchdown, but his time on the field progressively went down after that.

Pats ended up releasing Gordon in late October, clearing the way for Seattle Seahawks to pick him up off waivers. He eventually caught seven passes for 139 yards before NFL suspended him.

If Gordon manages to find his way back into the league once again, he will be a free agent for the first time in his career. However, it appears that he won’t be doing a lot of interviews with other NFL teams as he already has his mind set on returning to Seattle.

It appears that Josh Gordon’s time with New England Patriots has come to an end. Pats announced on Wednesday that they had placed Gordon on injured reserve.

Gordon, who is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent in March, played through a left knee injury for the better part of the season before making it worse in Week 6 game against New York Giants. He wasn’t on the roster in Pats’ win over New York Jets in Week 7.

In the first six weeks of 2019 NFL season, Gordon had 20 receptions for 287 yards and one touchdown.

According to ESPN, New England used “minor” IR designation on Josh Gordon, which means that they have to release him once he is cleared to play. That reportedly might happen in a couple of weeks. If released, Gordon can be claimed via waivers by another team.

Gordon joined New England in 2018 in a trade from Cleveland Browns. He had 40 catches for 720 yards and three touchdowns last season.

Following the arrival of Mohamed Sanu from Atlanta Falcons, Patriots felt that they don’t need Gordon anymore, although he was a starter alongside Julian Edelman. Besides Sanu and Edelman, New England also has Phillip Dorsett and this year’s first-round pick N’Keal Harry.

Cleveland Browns have finally had it with their troubled wide receiver Josh Gordon and will release or trade the 27-year-old in the coming days.

Initially, the Browns announced on Saturday that they will release Gordon after he reportedly showed up late for practice with a hamstring injury. The player injured himself on a promotional photo shoot which was not team sponsored according to multiple sources.

This afternoon we informed Josh Gordon and his representatives that we are going to release him on Monday,” – said Browns’ general manager John Dorsey in a statement on Saturday. “For the past six years, the Browns have fully supported and invested in Josh, both personally and professionally and wanted the best for him, but unfortunately we’ve reached a point where we feel it’s best to part ways and move forward. We wish Josh well.”

Insiders close to Cleveland Browns organization say that the team wanted to move on from Josh Gordon in order to finally start a culture change. Gordon had numerous off-field issues since he joined the Browns in 2012 including multiple violations of league’s substance abuse policy. He ended up missing 2014 and 2015 season while playing only 11 games since 2013 season. Browns supported Gordon through all of these years, but it looks like they gave up after these recent events.

Despite all the problems that surround Josh Gordon, there are still other NFL teams that would like to see him in their uniform. This is why the Browns decided against releasing Gordon on Monday as they initially planned, and are now looking into trade options with San Francisco 49ers and New England Patriots being among the most probable options.

Josh Gordon played in the Browns season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers and had one catch for 17 yards and a touchdown.

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon announced on Monday that he won’t be with the team once the training camp starts. In a statement released via his Twitter profile, Gordon said that his absence is part of his “overall health and treatment plan.”

Despite being one of the most talented WRs of his generation, Josh Gordon missed most of the last three seasons due to multiple suspensions for violating the league’s substance abuse policy. According to ESPN‘s Adam Schefter, Gordon decided to seek further counseling that will help him with his mental health and anxiety.

After Gordon’s statement, Cleveland Browns placed the player on non-football illness reserve list.

“We will continue to support Josh as he receives the care needed to maintain his progress,” – said Browns’ general manager John Dorsey in a statement. “We are going to respect his privacy while he is away from the team.

Although there is no exact timetable for his return, Browns believe that Gordon will make good on his word and join the team once he’s ready.

After All-Pro campaign in 2013 season, Josh Gordon went on to play just 10 games for the Browns since 2014. Since Browns took him in the second round of the 2012 NFL Supplemental Draft, Gordon played 40 games in which he had 179 receptions for 3,089 yards and 15 touchdowns.

Pittsburg Steelers, New England Patriots, Philadelphia Eagles, and Atlanta Falcons are some of the NFL teams you would think of when discussing league’s best-receiving corps. But according to Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon, his team should also be in the mix. As a matter of fact, Gordon already thinks that the Browns have the best receiving corps in NFL.

I think we’re the best receiving corps in the league, in my opinion, already,” – Gordon told reporters on Tuesday. “Just based off of talent alone. So you put in the playbook and guys that are hungry enough to go do it, and hopefully, we can go out there and show and prove that. That’s just my opinion, but we’re not short on talent at the wide receiver position at all. Not at all.

His teammate and fellow WR, Jarvis Landry, shares the same opinion.

He ain’t lying.” – said Landry when asked about Gordon’s comments.

While no one denies that Cleveland Browns’ receiving corps is talented, there are still lots of things that need to fall in place for it to be successful. First one is that Josh Gordon manages to stay out of trouble and play an entire season.

Since 2013, when he had 1,646 receiving yards and nine touchdowns in 14 games, Gordon managed to play only 10 games due to various violations of the league’s substance-abuse policy. He was limited to five games in 2014 and then spent more than two years out of the league, before coming back in late 2017. In five games he played in the last season, Gordon had 335 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Jarvis Landry, on the other hand, is much safer bet. In 2017 season, playing for Miami Dolphins, Landry was NFL receptions leader with 112, which counted for 987 receiving yards and nine touchdowns.

Besides Gordon and Landry, Cleveland Browns’ receiving corps also has Corey Coleman, Ricardo Louis, Antonio Callaway, Jeff Janis, Rashard Higgins, Damion Ratley, and C.J. Board.

After being conditionally reinstated by the NFL earlier this month, Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon opened about his substance abuse in a recent interview with GQ magazine. He even admitted that he used drugs and/or alcohol before every NFL game he played. According to Gordon, it was something of a ritual to him.

We would stay at the team hotel, and then players are allowed to go back home, get what they need and then go to the game,” – Gordon said. “So I’d leave the hotel early morning, go home, eat breakfast, do my little ritual, whatever it may be, some weed, some alcohol and then go to the game. And then, I’d definitely be partying after every game, win or lose. Every game.

After being drafted by the Browns in 2012 Supplemental Draft, Gordon went on to be among the best rookie wide receivers in the league. In his second year in NFL, Gordon led the league in receiving yards and earn First-team All-Pro honors although he missed the first two games due to violating the NFL’s substance-abuse policy. After playing just 5 games in 2014, Gordon was suspended for the entire 2015 season and didn’t play a game in 2016 due to various substance-abuse policy violations. He applied various times for reinstatement, and the league finally agreed to reinstate him on November 1 on a conditional basis, making him eligible to return in Week 13.

Despite Gordon’s reveal that he has been using substances before NFL games, Browns coach Hue Jackson said that won’t affect his thoughts on Gordon being a part of the team.

I think he was letting things out, if that’s what was said,” – Jackson said. “I think he was cleansing himself of his past, and I get that, a little bit. But again, I think he said what he felt he needed to say.
