Expect to continue seeing John Harbaugh at the Baltimore Ravens’ sidelines for the foreseeable future. On Tuesday, the Ravens announced that Harbaugh signed a three-year extension that will keep him with the franchise through the 2025 season.

Harbaugh received a vote of confidence from Baltimore despite having a rare disappointing campaign in 2021, in which the team finished 8-9 and missed out on the postseason. The Ravens made the playoffs three consecutive years before that and won the AFC North twice.

“I’m just thrilled as an owner to have a guy that’s going to be going into his 15th year,” Ravens’ owner Steve Bisciotti told reporters announcing the news. “So, I’m pretty pleased with it.”

John Harbaugh joined the Baltimore Ravens in 2008, replacing the Super Bowl-winning coach Brian Billick. While Harbaugh’s hiring raised some eyebrows at the time, it turned out to be a great decision from Bisciotti.

Since taking over the position, Harbaugh has led the Ravens to nine postseason appearances. He won the Super Bowl in 2012 while making two more AFC Championship appearances. The 59-year-old coach has a head coaching record of 137 wins, and 88 loses in the regular season while going 11-8 in the playoffs.

Harbaugh currently has the third-longest tenure with the same team among active coaches. The only two coaches that were longer with one team are the New England Patriots’ Bill Belichick and the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Mike Tomlin.

Ravens Coach John Harbaugh signed a four-year contract extension on Thursday, keeping him in Baltimore up until 2022.

After leading Baltimore to a playoff berth in 2018, Harbaugh’s contract was coming to an end. However, the Ravens made it clear they would extend the 56-year-old’s pact long before he could worry about it. Nothing was worked out until Thursday, however, when the Ravens and the coach agreed on the four-year deal.

“We have reached a new four-year contract with Head Coach John Harbaugh,” the Ravens announced through their official twitter handle.

Harbaugh confirmed the news through a statement released by the team.

“I’m very excited with this contract, the opportunity to continue our work here, and I’m humbled by it,” the coach said. “I’m thankful for the support from the Ravens, especially Steve Bisciotti (the owner).

Details about the new agreement were never revealed but he was already one the highest paid coaches before the deal. His return into the NFL will be his twelfth with Baltimore. And considering Harbaugh just gave the Ravens their first AFC title since 2012 and their first playoff appearance in four years, it’s probably the beginning of good news for the team.

Harbaugh has been successful with the Ravens already. He won Super Bowl XLVII for the Ravens in 2012 and has taken them to the playoffs 11 times. If he coaches them until 2022, he will have been their coach for 15 years. The Ravens were formed 23 seasons ago.

The Baltimore Ravens announced Saturday morning that Coach John Harbaugh will remain the head coach come 2019.

John Harbaugh will continue as our head coach for the 2019 season, and he and we are working on an extension to his existing contract, which expires after the 2019 season,” – the team said through a Twitter announcement.

Earlier in February, franchise owner Steve Bisciotti said he was considering firing Harbaugh after a dismal performance last season. The coach has remained uncertain over his future since then. This season, the coach inspired the Ravens off to a good start, winning four and losing two in the first six weeks.

While Baltimore said little to assure Harbaugh about his contract situation, the coach was hoping to remain in charge until his contract expires at the end of the season. Then the team dropped three losses in a row and the coach’s job was put into doubt.

Harbaugh made a few technical decisions after the losing streak. Rookie Lamar Jackson was promoted to be a first choice quarterback and the team has won all of its games except against the high-flying Kansas City Chiefs.

Of course, the biggest job Harbaugh has is to take his team to the playoffs. He has already done that six times since being hired in 2008 and won the 2012 Super Bowl. But even if that doesn’t happen, he has done enough for Baltimore to earn a contract extension.
