San Francisco 49ers decided to clear doubts about Joe Staley’s future and signed the veteran tackle to a two-year extension. Staley, who had one year left on his contract, will now stay with the 49ers at least through 2021.

“It was a big deal for me,” – Staley told NFL Network’s MJ Acosta after inking the extension. “It was something I was very proud of. The opportunity to finish my career in one spot was one of my goals. Honestly, when I came in, it was to play for this one franchise and make a career out of this.”

Joe Staley entered the league in 2007 when the 49erst made him a first-round pick in that year’s draft. During his time with the franchise, Staley played a total of 174 games, all of them as a starter.

Staley’s career highlights include PFWA All-Rookie Team selection, six Pro Bowl appearances, and three Second-team All-Pro honors.
