Unlike last year, veteran quarterback Joe Flacco didn’t have to wait long to sign with a team. According to reports, the reigning Comeback Player of the Year agreed to a one-year deal with the Indianapolis Colts.

Flacco will get $4.5 million in guaranteed money as part of the deal but has the opportunity to earn an additional $4.2 million.

Flacco remained unsigned deep into the 2023 season before joining the Cleveland Browns in the wake of starter Deshaun Watson’s injury. He ended up making five starts, leading the Browns to a 4-1 record and playoff appearance while throwing for 1,616 yards and eight touchdowns. Flaco added 307 passing yards and a touchdown in the postseason but couldn’t help Cleveland avoid a loss to the Houston Texans.

While the Browns didn’t seem to have much interest in keeping Flacco, the Colts gladly took the opportunity. Flacco should serve as a mentor to their inexperienced second-year QB Anthony Richardson while also giving them a great safety net in case Richardson keeps on having health issues. Indianapolis previously lost backup Gardner Minshew in free agency.

Flacco entered the league in 2008 as the first-round pick by the Baltimore Ravens. He spent 11 years with the Ravens, leading the franchise to a Super Bowl win in 2012 season as Super Bowl MVP. Flacco later suited up for the Denver Broncos, New York Jets, and Philadelphia Eagles.

After a vintage performance in a 31-27 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, veteran quarterback Joe Flacco secured the starting job with the Cleveland Browns for the remainder of the season. But it turns out that there was a possibility that Flacco wouldn’t play this season and possibly retire.

ESPN’s analyst Ryan Clark revealed during his appearance on Get Up that Flacco actually interviewed for a spot on Inside the NFL show. According to Clark, who serves as one of Inside the NFL hosts, the veteran quarterback wasn’t offered the gig.

“I’m glad we didn’t take him,” Clark added.

Flacco himself previously said that he didn’t believe he would get a chance to play in the NFL again. After starting four games with the New York Jets last season, the 38-year-old spent the entire summer and more than half of the season without a team. Only after the Browns lost their starting quarterback, Deshaun Watson, to a season-ending injury in late November did Flacco receive a call to join the team’s practice squad.

The chances of Flacco playing were still slim as the Browns were committed to having rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson as Watson’s replacement. But Thompson-Robinson ended up suffering a concussion ahead of the Week 13 game against the Los Angeles Rams, opening the door for Flacco to take over.

While he delivered a shaky performance against the Rams, Flacco showed why he has a Super Bowl MVP award on his resume against the Jags. He completed 26 of 45 passes while throwing for 311 yards and three touchdowns.

Flacco’s performance in the Jaguars game was enough for the Browns’ head coach, Kevin Stefanski, to make him the starter until the remainder of the season.

“Joe’s been in big games,” Stefanski said on Sunday. “So, feel comfortable with him leading the football team.”

The Cleveland Browns will have a new starting quarterback for Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams. This time, it will be veteran Joe Flacco who will get the nod under center.

Flacco steps in for rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson, who was ruled out for the Rams’ game due to a concussion.

Flacco joined the Browns’ practice squad last week to provide depth in the QB position after starter Deshaun Watson was ruled out for the remainder of the season with a shoulder injury. However, with Thompson-Robinson unavailable and the Browns not being confident with backup PJ Walker, the 38-year will get into action sooner than expected.

If they beat the Rams with Flacco as their signal-caller, the Browns would become just the sixth team to win games with four different starting quarterbacks in a single season. The last team that managed to do this was the 2017 Houston Texans.

Joe Flacco spent the majority of his pro career with the Baltimore Ravens, where he helped the franchise win a Super Bowl XLVII while earning Super Bowl MVP honors. Flacco left the Ravens after the 2018 season and embarked on stints with the Denver Broncos, New York Jets, and the Philadelphia Eagles. His last game action came last season when he played in five games (four starts) with the Jets.

Flacco has a 99–81 record as a starter and has thrown for 42,320 yards, 232 touchdowns, and 147 interceptions since entering the league in 2008.

The Cleveland Browns are adding depth to their QB room in the aftermath of starter Deshaun Watson’s season-ending shoulder injury. According to multiple reports, the Browns agreed to a deal with veteran quarterback Joe Flacco.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Flacco will initially land on the Browns’ practice squad but is expected to be promoted to the active roster in the near future.

Flacco last played in 2022, when he appeared in five games with the New York Jets and made four starts. The 38-year-old completed 57.6 percent of his passes while throwing for 1,051 yards, five touchdowns, and three interceptions last season.

With Watson out, the Browns, who are in the midst of a playoff race in a crowded AFC North, were left with rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson and veteran P.J. Walker as their only options at quarterback.

Thompson-Robinson delivered a solid performance in a 13-10 win over the Steelers on Sunday but is yet to throw a single touchdown pass after two starts. Walker, on the other hand, is completing less than 50% of his passes and has one touchdown as opposed to five picks in 2023.

Joe Flacco will give the Browns a dependable veteran option in case Thompson-Robinson and Walker continue to struggle. Flacco has a 99–81 record in the NFL as a starter, alongside 42,320 passing yards and 232 TDs. He was named Super Bowl MVP after helping the Baltimore Ravens with the Super Bowl XLVII in the 2012 NFL season.

The New York Jets are mixing it up at the quarterback position once again. According to the team’s head coach Robert Saleh, veteran Joe Flacco will start under center for Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins. This will mark the third different starter for the Jets in 2021.

The Jets opened the season with rookie Zach Wilson handling the starting duties. The 2021’s second overall pick got hurt in Week 7, which allowed fourth-year player Mike White to take over. White impressed on several occasions, most notably in 34-31 win over the Cincinnati Bengals, but had an ugly outing last week that saw him throw four picks in a 17-45 loss to the Buffalo Bills.

During a chat with reporters on Wednesday, Saleh insisted that White isn’t being demoted due to poor performance against the Bills. Instead, he believes that Flacco’s experience will give the Jets a better chance against the blitz-heavy Dolphins defense.

“Joe’s got a history,” Saleh said via. “He’s in the record books all over the place. He’s a world champion, so he’s got a history of playing good ball. One drive didn’t solidify anything; it’s his history more than anything. He’s seen these type of defenses many times over.”

Flacco joined the Jets in late October, arriving in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles. He saw his first action in 2021 against the Bills, stepping up in the fourth quarter and completing all three passes he attempted while throwing for 47 yards and a touchdown.

Speaking about his chance to start a game again for the first time in almost a year, Flacco said that he wants to prove that he still belongs in this league.

“When you’re a backup, and you get traded, all kinds of things run through your head,” he added. “You want to play. Not only that, but you want to prove again to yourself that you can play. A lot of emotions come up.”

New York Jets will have a veteran in their quarterback room after all. According to NFL Network’s insider Mike Garafolo, Jets agreed to a deal with veteran signal-caller Joe Flacco.

Flacco reportedly inked a one-year deal with the organization, being in line to earn $1.5 million this year. However, his salary could go up to $4.5 million based on incentives.

Flacco joins the Jets after Denver Broncos released him back in March “with a failed physical designation.” The 35-year-old started eight games with Broncos in 2019, before being shut down for the season due to a neck injury. He posted 2-6 record while throwing for 1,822 yards, six touchdowns, and five interceptions.

With Joe Flacco on the roster, Jets can now rest assured that they will have a competent option on the QB position if starter Sam Darnold gets injured or regresses. Besides Darnold, the team’s QB depth previously included veteran David Fales, who completed just 31 passes since entering the league in 2016.

Flacco is best known for his stint with Baltimore Ravens, where started 163 games between 2008 and 2018. He led the franchise to a Super Bowl in 2012, winning Super Bowl MVP honors in the process.

Flacco’s career stats include 61.9 career completion percentage, 40,067 passing yards, and 2018 passing TDs.

Denver Broncos are ending the Joe Flacco experiment after just one season. The team announced on Thursday that they are releasing Flacco “with a failed physical designation.”

According to reports, Denver won’t absorb a significant cap hit due to decision thanks to the fact that the two sides restructured Flacco’s deal back in 2019. The 35-year-old signal-caller was set to make $23.6 million in 2020 and $27.6 million in 2021.

Broncos brought in Joe Flacco last offseason with the intention to have him as a starter for at least a couple of years until rookie Drew Lock is ready to take over the reins. Flacco, however, had a disappointing start of the season before landing on the injured reserve list with neck issues. He ended the year with 1,822 passing yards, six touchdowns, and five interceptions.

Lock eventually stepped in for Flacco and obviously showed enough for Broncos to trust him with leading the team in 2020. The former Missouri QB played a total of five games last season, throwing for 1020 yards and seven TDs. In those five games, Denver was 4-1.

Denver Broncos quarterback has been ruled out for his team’s Week 9 matchup against the Cleveland Browns after suffering a neck injury during their Sunday loss against the Indianapolis Colts.

Flacco, who was acquired by Denver from the Ravens during the summer in exchange for a fourth-round draft pick, suffered a herniated disk in his neck after being hit hard in Sunday’s game.

After tests revealed the extent of the injury, the veteran quarterback received word from team doctors that he will not be allowed to play against Cleveland this weekend.

Depending on the speed of Flacco’s recovery, it’s possible that he will be placed on the injured reserve list after Denver’s Week 10 bye, effectively ending his season.

It’s a disappointing bit of news for the former Ravens signal caller, who has struggled in his first season in the Mile High City. He has thrown for only 6 touchdowns and 5 interceptions in eight games, accumulating fewer than 2,000 passing yards.

Flacco and the Broncos are 2-6 on the season, and the team could decide to cut bait with him after the season ends and move on.

Brandon Allen is expected to replace Flacco as Denver’s starting quarterback for the time being.

When he signed a two-year, $36 million deal last year with the Denver Broncos, quarterback Case Keenum thought he will be the team’s starting QB for the foreseeable future. Broncos’ GM John Elway, on the other hand, got another idea after 6-10 season in 2018 and decided to trade for veteran Joe Flacco.

Keenum now finally decided to speak publicly about the trade during his recent interview with Sports Spectrum Podcast, saying he was “shocked” by the move.

“[Broncos general manager John] Elway called me that morning and we had a great conversation, which he didn’t have to do, and I appreciated that,”- said Keenum. “I was definitely shocked, it was a surprise for us and I think probably for the first day or so that’s kind of what it was. But for us, we’re definitely disappointed, it’s not something we wanted to happen. I know that everybody’s doing their job and John feels like that was a chance for him to help the Broncos out.”

Case Keenum didn’t have bad numbers in his lone season with Denver Broncos, managing to complete 62.3 percent of his passes for 3,890 yards and 18 touchdowns. The team, however, played poorly overall and Elway decided to try with a different approach at the QB position.

According to NFL insider Ian Rapaport, Broncos’ plan is to try and find a buyer for Keenum among NFL teams in a need of a quarterback. If they failed to do so, they will give the player an option to take a significant pay cut or get released.

“For us, it’s another chapter in our lives and we’re going to roll with it,” – the 31-year-old QB added. “We’re going to approach this like I do everything in my entire life, and that it’s not by accident this has happened. It’s just another chapter and another opportunity to overcome some adversity in my life.”

Baltimore Ravens are officially Lamar Jackson’s team moving forward. According to ESPN‘s Adam Schefter, Ravens have agreed to trade quarterback Joe Flacco to the Denver Broncos, clearing the way for Jackson to retain his place as the starting quarterback.

Since no deal can be processed on March 13th, when the new NFL season officially kicks off, neither teams can’t make a confirmation or comment on the terms of the deal. According to sources, however, Broncos will send a mid-round pick to Broncos in exchange for Flacco.

For the Ravens, this trade means that they are fully committed to Lamar Jackson as their franchise’s quarterback. Jackson, who was 32nd pick in 2018 NFL Draft, stepped in for Joe Flacco in Week 9 and turned around the team’s season leading Baltimore to an unexpected playoff appearance. After this, the Ravens decided to move on from Flacco, who was struggling with production in recent years.

Denver Broncos, on the other hand, are admitting that their experiment with Case Keenum has failed. Broncos signed Keenum to a two-year, $36 million contract in 2018 after his productive season with Minnesota Vikings. Still, the 30-year-old was unable to replicate the same level of play in Denver and ended up tied for second-most interceptions in the league.

Joe Flacco spent his entire career with the Baltimore Ravens, who selected him 18th overall in the 2008 NFL Draft. He was named the team’s starting quarterback in his rookie season when he led them to AFC Championship Game. During his 10 years with the franchise, Flacco added five more playoff trips while leading the Ravens to a Super Bowl win in 2012.
