Los Angeles Dodgers managed to finalize Mookie Betts trade with Boston Red Sox, they had another deal fall through. According to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal, the previously agreed trade in which would Dodgers send outfielder Joc Pederson to Los Angeles Angels is now off.

The original agreement, first reported last week, saw Dodgers send Pederson and Andy Pages to Angels in exchange for infielder Luis Rengifo.

Reportedly, the reason why the deal fell through is because Betts trade was reworked. Initially, Dodgers would acquire the All-Star fielder in a three-team trade which would also include Minnesota Twins. But due to Red Sox’ concerns about certain aspects of the deal, the trade ended up becoming a two-team deal. After that, the Dodgers felt like they don’t need to trade Pederson anymore. Also, some sources say that Angels became impatient and were the ones to bring the deal to a halt.

Many baseball analysts consider Dodgers’ as better off going through the Joc Pederson trade. He will earn $7.5 million in 2020, the Dodgers’ salary book would benefit. Also, the Dodgers have plenty of outfielder depth on the roster and they wouldn’t really miss Pederson at all.

Pederson finished the last season with a .249 batting average while hitting 36 home runs and 74 RBIs.
