Los Angeles Clippers officially added center Joakim Noah. The former NBA Defensive Player of the Year will join the organization for the rest of this season and the 2020/21 NBA season. Reportedly, however, the next season of Noah’s deal isn’t guaranteed.

Noah previously joined the Clippers on a 10-day contract in March but failed to play a single game with the organization before the NBA suspended its activities due to coronavirus pandemic.

The 35-year-old center’s most recent stint in NBA includes 42 games with Memphis Grizzlies last season, during which he averaged 7.1 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 2.1 assists.

Noah fills a position of need for Clippers, as they don’t have a classic rim protector on their roster. He should also raise the team’s defensive profile, as Montrezl Harrell and Ivica Zubac, who played at the center for the major part of the season, are more offense-minded players.

During his time in Chicago, Noah emerged as one of the league’s best defensive players and ended up winning the NBA Defensive Player of the Year in 2014 while also earning two All-Star appearances. Los Angeles Clippers are adding another proven NBA veteran to their roster. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Clippers have agreed to a deal with two-times All-Star Joakim Noah.

Wojnarowski reports that Noah will first sign a 10-day contract, but is expected to remain with the franchise until the end of the season. Clippers have monitored the 35-year-old for some time now and determined that his size and defensive capability would give suit their game plan.

Prior to acquiring Noah, Clippers have also added two potentially impactful players in Marcus Morris and Reggie Jackson in order to fuel their championship run this year. Morris was acquired in a trade with New York Knicks, while Jackson joined the team after agreeing to a buyout with Detroit Pistons.
