While LA Dodgers are working to bring a star player in free agency, they decided to make veteran addition to their roster for 2020. According to ESPN’s Alden Gonzalez, Dodgers inked pitcher Jimmy Nelson on a one-year deal.

Gonzalez reports that Nelson, who spent the previous season with the Milwaukee Brewers, will earn $750,000 base salary in 2020, while his contract also contains an option for 2021. However, the deal could reportedly reach $13 million in total value if certain incentives are met.

Nelson confirmed his agreement with Dodgers, writing on social media that he is “excited and grateful for the opportunity” to be a part of the organization.

Jimmy Nelson played 10 games in 2019 (two as a starter) after he missed the entire 2018 with a shoulder injury. The 30-year-old wasn’t effective in his return, posting 0-2 record with 6.95 ERA and 26 strikeouts. The Brewers ended up demoting him to their Triple-A affiliate, where he recouped some of his pre-injury form.

Nelson made his majors debut in 2013 and worked his way up the Milwaukee’s depth chart. He had his best season in 2017 when he posted a 12-6 record with 3.49 ERA and 199 strikeouts.
