The Detroit Pistons finally found a deal that convinced them to part ways with veteran power forward Jerami Grant. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Pistons are sending Grant to the Portland Trail Blazers while receiving a package of picks in return.

The picks heading to Detroit include a first-rounder via Milwaukee Bucks in 2025 that is 1-4 proceed and a second-round selection in 2026. The two teams will also swap second-rounders in the 2022 NBA Draft, with Blazers sliding down to no. 46 and the Pistons jumping to no. 36.

The trade saga revolving around Jerami Grant has been going on for more than a year. He was the Pistons’ best player in recent seasons but didn’t fit their rebuilding project, prompting the team to try and find a deal for him. Multiple contenders reached out to Detroit at various points to talk a deal, but Grant has stayed put.

The Pistons were previously asking for a lottery pick to part way with Grant, but the fact that he only had one year left on his contract made them lower the price. The Blazers, who inquired about the 28-year-old in the past, jumped on the chance to take advantage of the discount and bring an impactful player to Portland.

Jerami Grant was limited to just 47 games last season due to calf strain. He averaged 19.2 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.4 assists in 2021-22.

It appears that the Philadelphia 76ers lowered their demands in Ben Simmons trade talks. Despite previously insisting on an All-Star caliber player, the 76ers are now willing to accept a package that includes a reliable starter, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer‘s Keith Pompey.

Pompey reports that one of the discussions the 76ers had in recent days centered on a deal that would see Simmons go to the Detroit Pistons and forward Jerami Grant returning back to Philly. Grant, who emerged as the Pistons’ best player in the last couple of seasons, was drafted by the 76ers in 2014 and spent his first two years in NBA with the franchise.

The trade would also include Detroit sending other assets to Philadelphia. This would notably include a draft pick, a young player, and a forward. The 76ers reportedly identified Kelly Olynyk and Saddiq Bey as possible additions to the deal, but the Pistons are unwilling to part with either of them at the moment.

Ben Simmons asked the 76ers for a trade in the offseason and opted not to report to the team for the start of training camp. He ended his holdout in early October after the 76ers started fining him, but is yet to play a game in the 2021-22 season. The 25-year-old is currently out due to a lower back injury and mental health issues.

The 76ers are working the phones in the meantime and have a list of 30 players that they would accept for Simmons, according to The Athletic. Despite this, there is no indication that a potential deal will materialize anytime soon.

Denver Nuggets’ forward Jerami Grant is tempted to test the free agency for the first time in his NBA career. During his recent appearance on Posted Up with Chris Haynes podcast, Grant admitted that he is “leaning” towards rejecting his player option and becoming a free agent this summer.

Grant has a $9.3 million option for 2020/21 as part of the three-year, $27.3 million extension he signed with Oklahoma City Thunder back in 2018. And while this would be a solid salary, especially in these times of uncertainty, the 26-year-old thinks he deserves more based on his showing in recent seasons.

“I’m definitely not leaning towards picking up the player option,” Grant told host Chris Haynes. “Like you said, I feel like I definitely outplayed the $9 million that I’m making each year right now.”

Grant’s decision, however, doesn’t mean he would like to leave the Nuggets.

“But at the same time… I’d love to come to a conclusion or something like that with Denver, it just depends what we discuss and negotiate when the time comes,” he added.

The Nuggets are expected to be very motivated to keep Jerami Grant on their team, especially since they gave up a first-round pick for him last summer. At 26, Grant also fits nicely with Denver’s young core and could possibly be a long-term solution on the power forward position given that Paul Millsap is set to become a free agent in the summer.

Since arriving in Denver, Grant played 64 games and averaged 11.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game. He has also been a key contributor on the other side of the floor, thanks to his defensive versatility and ability to defend positions one through four.
