The NBA trade season is slowly gearing up. Atlanta Hawks announced on Thursday that they have traded forward Allen Crabbe to Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for guard Jeff Teague.

Wolves also sent guard Treveon Graham to Hawks as part of the deal, creating an open roster spot that they could use in future trades.

The trade sees Teague returning to Hawks, where he started his NBA career. The veteran point guard spent the first seven years as a pro in Atlanta, during which he earned an All-Star call up in 2015.

Teague played 34 games this season with Minnesota, averaging 13.2 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game. He is expected to provide Hawks with a reliable backup behind their emerging star PG Trae Young.

Crabbe, on the other hand, struggled to be impactful for Atlanta Hawks since arriving from Brooklyn Nets in a trade this offseason. The 27-year-old averaged just 18.7 minutes per game in 2019/20, contributing with 5.1 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.0 assists.

Both Teague and Crabbe, as well as Graham, will become free agents after this season.
