The New York Giants continued to have offensive struggles in a 30-10 loss against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday, resulting in offensive coordinator Jason Garret losing his job. The team confirmed the news on Tuesday, posting a short message on their official social media.

Garrett was fired less than 24 hours after the Giants managed just 215 yards of offense against the Bucs. The offense also had season-low 15 first downs and produced only one play that went over 16 yards.

Speaking with reporters after the game, Giants head coach Joe Judge admitted that his team struggles to score while blaming the coaching staff.

“We have to do a better job of scoring points,” Judge said via ESPN. “We have to do a better job of putting our players in a position to make plays. We have too many good players.”

The Giants have been one of the worst teams on offense in NFL since Jason Garrett took over the offensive coordinator duties ahead of the 2020 season. In his first year on the job, the team managed to score just 17.5 points per game, which ranked them 31st in the league. This season, the Giants are 25th with 18.9 points per game.

It is unclear who will succeed Garrett in the OC role, but former Cleveland Browns head coach Freddie Kitchen is considered to be a strong candidate. Kitchen joined the organization as a tight-end coach in 2020 before being promoted to the senior offensive assistant role before the 2021 season.

Dallas Cowboys suffered a shocking 26-15 loss to Buffalo Bills on Thanksgiving Thursday but the team’s owner Jerry Jones insists there is no need for a change. Although the Cowboys have now lost three out of the last four games, after the game Jones said that he isn’t considering a coaching change.

“I’m just not going to make a coaching change,” – said Jones after being asked whether firing Jason Garrett is an option before the end of the season. “… This is not the time.”

Although Cowboys are still at the top of NFC East, they have now fallen to 6-6 record and have just a half-game lead over second-placed Philadelphia Eagles. They are still pretty much in control of their playoff destiny at this point, but it is safe to say their room for mistakes has gone. Despite this, Jones is confident his team will come through and end up competing for a Super Bowl.

“I’m looking ahead at another ballgame and I’m looking ahead at winning four or five straight and helping to write a story that they’ll talk about that you were down and out and you got it done,” – he added. “Every decision that I make over the next month will be with an eye in mind to get us in the Super Bowl now.”

Jason Garrett has been on a hot seat for some time now, given the fact that Cowboys still haven’t beaten a team with a winning record this season. Despite this, reports say that Jones will not remove him as a coach and will let him end the job this season. However, considering the fact that Garrett is out of contract in 2020, he will most certainly be out if Dallas doesn’t deliver in 2019.
