San Francisco 49ers made a shuffle on the cornerback position on Monday. The team announced that they have signed veteran corner Jamar Taylor to a one-year deal while waiving Teez Tabor in a corresponding move.

Taylor split the 2019 season between the Seattle Seahawks and the Atlanta Falcons, appearing in 12 games and contributing with 23 tackles and three pass deflections.

Tabor, spent the last season with San Francisco’s practice squad and didn’t have an official NFL appearance.

According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Tabor is currently sidelined while he recovers from a foot injury he suffered during virtual workouts. The 24-year-old cornerback is expected to return in time for the start of the 2020 NFL season.

Jamar Taylor started his pro career as Miami Dolphins’ second-round pick in 2013. Since then, he suited up for six different organizations and played a total of 90 games in the league. Taylor’s best season in the NFL came in 2015 when he started 14 games with Cleveland Browns and contributed with three interceptions, 13 pass deflections, and 57 tackles.

Teez Tabor was also a second-round pick, entering the league in 2017 with Detroit Lions. Tabor played 22 games over the course of two seasons in Detroit and has 42 tackles to show for.

Arizona Cardinals are set to acquire cornerback Jamar Taylor from Cleveland Browns. According to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, Cardinals will send their 2020 sixth-round pick to Browns in exchange.

Jamar Taylor started 15 games for the Browns in the 2017 season in which he had 48 tackles, 10 pass deflections, and one forced fumble.

Arizona Cardinals were looking for a cornerback to pair with their All-Pro star Patrick Peterson for some time now while the Browns were motivated to move Taylor ever since they drafted Ohio State’s cornerback Denzel Ward with the fourth overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Cardinals previously drafted CB Chris Campbell in the sixth round of the draft to address their cornerback issues while also pursuing free-agent Baushad Breeland, who is most likely to sign with the Colts.

Jamar Taylor was drafted into the league in 2013 NFL draft when Miami Dolphins selected him with the 54th overall pick. He didn’t manage to live up to his potential during the three seasons with the team, so Dolphins traded him to the Browns in 2016.

During the five years he spent in the NFL, Taylor played in 64 games and managed 201 total tackles, 27 pass deflections, and 3 interceptions alongside one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
