Running back Jalen Richard will remain with the Raiders for their move to Las Vegas.

The team announced on Wednesday that they have signed Richard to a two-year contract extension. The financial terms of the deal remained undisclosed.

Richard didn’t have an extended role last season as a back, but the team values his contributions on special teams and as a receiver. In 16 games he played as a backup, the 26-year-old had 39 carries for 145 yards while adding 36 receptions for 323 yards. As a returner, he had 209 yards. 

Raiders signed Jalen Richard in 2016 as an undrafted free, and he managed to make the 53-men roster out of the training camp. In the previous four years, Richard was used in numerous ways in team’s offensive schemes, and has so far totaled 1,170 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns. He proved even better in the receiving game, managing to catch 160 passes for 1,380 yards and three TDs.

Richard earned praises for his contribution in the past, with Raiders’ head coach Jon Gruden even calling him !the MVP of our team.”

Besides Richard, Raiders have tied down several of their other impending free agents including cornerback Nevin Lawson and offensive linemen Richie Incognito and Denzelle Good.
