Baltimore Ravens have finally addressed the pressing issue of the linebacker depth. According to reports, Ravens’ have agreed to a one-year deal with veteran inside linebacker Jake Ryan.

Ryan has a reputation for being a reliable presence on the defense, but he struggled with injuries in the past couple of seasons. Since 2017, he hasn’t played a single snap on the defense and made only two appearances as part of special teams.

While Ravens hope that Ryan has left the injuries behind him now, the team is expected to further address their LB need in the upcoming draft as well. Baltimore already thin linebacker core was previously further chipped by departures of Josh Bynes and Patrick Onwuasor, who both left in free agency.

Jake Ryan entered the league in 2015 as Green Bay Packers’ fourth-round pick. In his first three seasons in NFL, Ryan played 43 games (27 starts) and proved himself as an efficient run stopper. He also collected 213 tackles, 1.0 sacks three pass deflection, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery. 

During the 2018 training camp, Ryan suffered a torn ACL and ended up missing the entire season due to injury. He signed with Jacksonville Jaguars last season but played only 34 snaps on special teams in 2019 before being placed on the injured reserve list.
