The Jacksonville Jaguars extended their losing streak to 19 games after getting beat by the Cincinnati Bengals in a Thursday Night Football clash. The Bengals snatched a 24-21 win thanks to  Evan McPherson’s late 35-yard field goal.

The Jags were the better team in the first half, scoring two touchdowns while shutting down the Bengals’ offense. Jacksonville got a chance to make it 21-0 late in the second quarter but ended up failing to convert 4th&Goal on Cincinnati’s 1-yard line.

The Bengals bounced back in the second half and made the score even in their first two possessions. The Jags’ running back James Robinson then scored his second touchdown of the night to give his team the lead once again.

Cincinnati’s offense immediately responded with a touchdown of their own before the defense came through once again and stopped Jacksonville’s drive.

The Bengals got the ball at their own 10-yard line after the Jags’ punted and managed to go 73 yards down the field in order to set up an easy FG attempt for McPherson with four seconds left on the clock. The spotlight wasn’t too bright for the rookie kicker, who was good on the kick and gave his team the third win of the season.

Cincinnati was led by second-year quarterback Joe Burrow, who threw for 348 yards and two touchdowns. Running back Joe Mixon added one rushing touchdown while running for 67 yards.

Rookie QB Trevor Lawrence had a solid game for the Jags, completing 17 out of 24 passes attempted for 204 yards. On top of his two TD runs, Robinson rushed for a total of 78 yards.

Despite being in the mix for a Super Bowl appearance before the start of 2018, Jacksonville Jaguars are having a disappointing season which got even worse after they suffered a 21-24 loss to Buffalo Bills. This was the Jags seventh straight loss, and it prompted the team to make some personnel changes and fire offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett.

The news was confirmed by Jacksonville’s coach Doug Marrone on Monday.

We would like to thank Nathaniel for his hard work and dedication to the Jaguars organization, and we wish him and his family the best moving forward,” – said Marrone in a statement. “These are always tough decisions, but as the head coach, I have to do what I think is best for this football team.

Nathaniel Hackett joined the Jaguars in 2015 as quarterbacks coach, before being promoted to offensive coordinator in 2016. After the Jags successful playoff run last season, Hackett was praised for getting the most out of inconsistent quarterback Blake Bortles. In 2018, however, Hackett’s run-heavy offense didn’t have the same success, and he ended up losing his job.

It wasn’t anything negative, [Marrone] just decided to make a move,” – Hackett told NFL Insider Ian Rapoport. “I guess he didn’t think I was good enough, that’s the only thing I can think of. It’s a shock.”

Jacksonville Jaguars could really use some offensive boost in the NFL Wild Card Game against the Buffalo Bills, and wide receiver Marqise Lee is ready to help. Although listed questionable, Lee, who is the team’s leading receivers, says he intends to play unless instructed otherwise.

In my head, [I’ll] just continue to have my head up as far as me playing,” – he said. “If I had to decide, I am going to play until they decide I’m not.

Lee suffered an ankle injury early in the game against the Houston Texans and missed the final two games of the season. During the 13 games, he had 56 receptions for 702 yards and three touchdowns. The Jags missed his presence on the field, losing both games Lee was out.

The 26-year-old WR practiced on a limited basis for the first time on Friday and will have his ankle tested on Sunday. Although he wishes to play in the Jags’ first playoff games since 2007, Lee will only do it if he thinks he can help.

If I felt like I was going to go out there and be hurting and hurt the team, I wouldn’t do it.” – said Lee. “But I feel like I can go out there, give it my all as far as be a solid 100 percent, and go out there and just produce for the team, or just do what they need me to do as far as this point. I feel like I can go out there and do it, so I’m going to go out there and do it.

Jacksonville Jaguars ended the season at the top of AFC South with a 10-6 record. They will have a home advantage on Sunday when they face the Bills. For the Buffalo Bills, a playoff appearance is reason enough to celebrate since it will be their first one in 17 years.

Jacksonville Jaguars face the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, hoping for another win and clinching the division title, but that might be more difficult without Marqise Lee. The team’s leading receiver was ruled out due to an ankle injury, the team announced on Friday. Lee suffered an injury in the Jaguars 45-7 victory over Houston Texans and didn’t participate in practices.

Drafted by the Jaguars as the 39th overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, Lee struggled in his first two seasons with the team. In 2016, however, he had 851 yards and 3 touchdowns, showing signs of promise. This season, he leads the Jaguars with 56 receptions and 702 receiving yards. The game against the 49ers will be the first he will miss since Week 9 of 2015 season.

Another receiver, Allen Hurns, might not play for the Jags on Sunday. He suffered a sprained ankle in Week 10’s 20-17 win against the Los Angeles Chargers. Hurns made a return to practice on Wednesday, but on a limited basis. Before his injury, he had 36 catches for 446 yards alongside two touchdowns.

He’s working hard to get back,” – said Jaguars’ head coach Doug Marrone for the team’s official website. “We’ve got to look at today, see where we are, then we have tomorrow (Saturday) and the flight, then obviously we’ll make a decision.

If both Hurns also remains out with Lee, the duo will be replaced by Jaguars’ young receivers Keelan Cole, Dede Westbrook and Jaydon Mickens. Cole and Mickens already showed that they can be difference makers in the game against the Texans. Cole had seven receptions for 186 yards and a touchdown, while Mickens got two touchdowns which were also the first ones in his career.
