Offensive tackle Isaiah Wilson, who was selected by the Tennessee Titans in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, will have a chance to resurrect his career in New York. After spending six months on the free-agent market, Wilson landed a deal with the Giants on Wednesday and will join their practice squad.

The Giants organization confirmed the move on their official social media on Thursday.

Wilson was a highly regarded tackle coming out of college, and the Titans took him with the 29th overall pick with intentions to make him an immediate starter. But soon after coming to Tennessee, the Georgia product started struggling with off-the-field issues and was even briefly suspended by the Titans for violating team rules. He ended up making just one appearance in his rookie season, lining up for three snaps on offense and one on special teams.

In March, the Titans already decided to give up on Wilson and traded him to the Miami Dolphins for a seventh-round pick. The 22-year-old player didn’t last long in Miami, however, being released by the team three days later after he came late for a physical and then missed two workouts.

Despite Wilson’s problematic behavior, there is no doubt that he has a high ceiling and could carve a role on an NFL team if he gets more serious about playing football. His signing might prove to be a smart move for the Giants as the risk is minimum while the reward could be substantial.

The Miami Dolphins officially confirmed that the team decided to release offensive tackle Isaiah Wilson. The move comes just several days after the Dolphins acquired Wilson in a trade with Tennessee Titans.

Wilson was the Titans’ first-round pick in 2020 and was considered a long-term answer for the team on the right guard position. However, Georgia product had a disastrous start to his pro career and spent the majority of his rookie season away from the team.

Reportedly, Wilson had issues with his work ethic while also having a problematic behavior off-the-field. This caused him to play only four snaps in 2020.

Dolphins decided to take a gamble on Wilson earlier this month, believing they could help the 22-year-old player reach his full potential. The team also hoped a connection with coach Brian Flores, who previously knew the player, could play a part.

Unfortunately, Wilson wasn’t interested in changing his behavior. He was hours late for his physical with the Dolphins while also missing several workouts he previously agreed to do. Eventually, the team didn’t have any other option but to move on.
