The Houston Rockets displayed a marvelous performance in Shanghai on Tuesday, beating Yao Ming’s former team Shanghai Sharks 128-86 and setting a record never accomplished in the NBA.

James Harden led the Rockets in a rampage over the Shanghai Sharks, logging 9 of 14 three-pointer attempts and recording 37 points in the night. P.J. Tucker made six three-pointers as five more players connected from a distance to make it 28 three-pointers in a game.

Were it a regular NBA match, the Rockets’ game last night could have been a record breaker. The record is currently held by the Cleveland Cavaliers, who hit 25 three-pointers as the defeated the Hawks 135-130 in early March last year.

NBA game or not, the Rockets have been splendid in completing three-pointers for the last two seasons. They hold the record for the most 3-pointers for the second year consecutively and look determined to extend the record this season.

The Rockets will begin the regular season on October 17^th when they face New Orleans. They lost one of their three-pointer heroes Trevor Ariza in the offseason but they still have a top-shelf squad. Carmelo Anthony will look forward to mending his relationship with his team after his long 2-pointer last week that may also have led to his absence in the Shanghai game.
