Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur confirmed on Friday that their star striker Harry Kane suffered a left hamstring tear during the team’s 1-0 loss to Southampton. While the extent of Kane’s injury is yet to be determined, the team is reportedly expecting the player to miss significant time recovering.

Hotspur’s manager Jose Mourinho also admitted that he isn’t an optimist regarding the severity of Kane’s injury.

“If you ask me just my feeling, good news or bad news, I am more bad news than good news, what the player felt, Harry Kane leaving a match the way he did. He didn’t think twice, didn’t take him two seconds to realise the severity of the situation,” Mourinho told the media during a recent news conference.

After his diagnosis was confirmed, Kane sent a message to his social media followers in which he wrote: “Head up. Tough times don’t last, tough people do.”

Harry Kane has been carrying Tottenham offensively this year, scoring 11 goals in Premier League and adding six goals in UEFA Champions League. Considering that Mourinho has a lack of classic strikers on the roster besides Kane, he is expected to rely on Son Heung-Min to step up in this role.

If Kane ends up being sidelined for a prolonged period of time, Tottenham might also look to bring some players during the January transfer window.
