Carolina Panthers’ tight end Greg Olsen is still out of team’s active roster with a fractured foot he suffered in the season opener against Dallas Cowboys, but it looks like the 33-year-old Pro-Bowler is making significant progress towards recovery.

Olsen is already back to running routes and catching passes, which was encouraging enough for him to start thinking about playing in Week 6 game against the Washington Redskins. He has been already ruled out for Week 5 clash against the New York Giants.

I don’t think it’s out of the question,” – Olsen told reporters when asked whether he could face the Redskins. “If everyone, the doctors and I, feel like I’m ready I’m going to play. If I can play, I’m always going to err on the side of playing. But I want to be able to play and help the team.”

Greg Olsen had the same injury in 2017 and ended up missing nine games, having to undergo a surgery to get a screw implanted into his foot. The screw kept the bone from completely breaking this time, which removed the need for another surgery and made the recovery process a lot faster.

It stinks doing it again,” – Olsen added. “It’s also the benefit of I kind of now know what to expect. I know what it’s supposed to feel like and not supposed to feel like. I’m ahead of where I was this time last year. I’m confident I’ll be better when I first come back and play a game then I was those first couple of games when I came back last year.

Last year, Greg Olsen managed to play seven games in which he caught 17 passes for 191 yards and a touchdown. He also contributed eight catches for 107 yards and one touchdown in Panthers’ playoff loss against the New Orleans Saints.
