The Golden State Warriors veteran forward Draymond Green made NBA history in a 109-114 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday night. He became the first player in the history of the league to record a double-double without taking a single shot.

Green finished the Pelicans game with 12 rebounds and 11 assists. During his 36 minutes on the floor, he didn’t attempt a field goal shot or go to the free throw line.

Speaking with reporters after the game, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr didn’t mind the lack of Green’s contributions on offense. He praised him for his overall contributions and said that he was a big part of the reason why his team had a shot to win the game.

“I don’t care if Draymond shoots or doesn’t shoot,” Kerr said. “He does everything else. He was incredible tonight. His defense was so good, his competitiveness. I thought our guys in the second half, the way they fought, it was amazing to watch just the competitive spirit and the energy.

Draymond Green has had a rocky season in which he was suspended multiple times. However, he is still a crucial part of the Warriors’ team, thanks to his defense and versatility. Green is currently averaging 8.6 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 6.0 assists per game.

The Golden State Warriors’ veteran point guard Chris Paul is set to return to action after recovering from a hand injury that kept him sidelined for almost two months.

Paul suffered a hand fracture in early January in a 113-109 win over the Detroit Pistons and was forced to undergo surgery. At the time, it was expected that Paul would miss four to six weeks.

According to Warriors’ head coach Steve Kerr, Paul will play in the upcoming game against the Washington Wizards and isn’t expected to be on a minute restriction.

“Chris will play all of the non-Steph minutes, and he’ll be out there with Steph as well,” Kerr said. “It’s easier for us to put Steph off the ball and take some of the wear and tear off of him when Chris is out there.”

Paul is in his first season with the Warriors, joining Golden State in a trade from the Washington Wizards. In 32 games in 2023-24, Paul is averaging 8.9 points, 3.8 rebounds and 7.2 assists.

Getting Paul back will serve as a boost for the Warriors, who have put together a solid run in recent weeks. They won eight of their last 10 games and find themselves tenth in the Western Conference with a 29-27 record and just one game behind the Los Angeles Lakers on the ninth spot.

The Golden State Warriors made sure their championship-winning head coach, Steve Kerr, stays with the franchise for at least a couple of more seasons. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Kerr and the Warriors agreed to a two-year, $35 million extension.

Kerr, who was set to be out of contract at the end of the 2023-24 NBA season, has now become the highest-paid head coach in the history of the NBA. His $17.5 million average salary for the next two seasons eclipses Miami Heat’s Erik Spoelstra, who earns $15 million annually after signing an eight-year, $120 million extension earlier this year.

It is believed that San Antonio Spurs’ Gregg Popovich earns more than Kerr and Spoelstra, but he also holds a President of Basketball Operations title on top of his head coaching job.

Steve Kerr has been serving as the head coach of the Golden State Warriors since 2014. Under his tenure, the Warriors became a dynasty, winning four NBA titles and making six NBA Finals. He compiled a .655 win percentage in the regular season, which is fifth best in NBA history.

By locking Kerr to an extension, the Warriors ensure coaching continuity during what could be a challenging period for the franchise. While their championship-winning core of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green approaches the twilight of their NBA careers, Golden State is trying to set up a succession plan by giving their younger players more opportunities and preparing them to take over down the stretch.

The Warriors struggled so far in 2023-24 and currently find themselves at No. 10 in the Western Conference with a 29-26 record. However, the encouraging thing for the team is that they have won eight out of their last 10 games.

The NBA trade deadline came and went, but the Golden State Warriors didn’t engage in any deals despite various trade rumors surrounding the franchise. However, according to a recent report from NBC Sports’ K.C. Johnson, it wasn’t for lack of trying.

Johnson reports that the Warriors reached out to the Chicago Bulls in an attempt to acquire guard Alex Caruso. The two teams had various exploratory talks, but the Bulls just weren’t interested in what the Warriors had to offer.

Reportedly, Chicago was interested in making a deal only if the Warriors were willing to include forward Jonathan Kuminga. Golden State, on the other hand, viewed Kuminga as untouchable and preferred to center the package on young shooting guard Moses Moody.

Caruso has been in fine form this season, playing great defense as usual while averaging career-highs in points (9.8) and rebounds (3.8), alongside 2.9 assists and 1.4 steals. He drew interest from various other teams besides the Warriors, but the Bulls didn’t want to let him leave in a deal that would make their roster less competitive.

“We didn’t see anything that was going to make us better,” Bulls’ vice president Artūras Karnišovas explained after the NBA trade deadline concluded. “We would take a step back, which we don’t want. We want to stay competitive.”

Being left out of Golden State Warriors’ closing lineups in recent games isn’t sitting well with veteran shooting guard Klay Thompson. Speaking with reporters after a 98-109 win against the Brooklyn Nets on Monday, Thompson said that it is “very hard” for him to spend most of the fourth quarter on the bench.

Warriors’ head coach Steve Kerr opted to keep Thompson on the bench in the closing minutes of last week’s 101-121 win over the Memphis Grizzlies. He did the same against the Nets, taking Thompson out with 7:19 remaining in the fourth quarter and not going back to him for the remainder of the contest.

When asked by reporters how he feels about being left out in the most important moments of recent games, Thompson didn’t hide his disappointment.

“You kidding me? Go from, you know, one of the best players … it’s hard for anybody,” said Thompson. “I’ll be honest with you. It’s very hard.”

The 2023-24 season has been a difficult one for Klay Thompson. He is averaging 17.1 points per game, his lowest since his second year in the NBA. Also, he is shooting career-low 37.1% from beyond the arc.

The Warriors are currently sitting 12th in the Western Conference with a 22-25 record. They are 11.5 games behind the leading Oklahoma City Thunder but just one game behind the Utah Jazz, who hold the last play-in spot.

Veteran forward Draymond Green is back with the Golden State Warriors after serving a 12-game suspension. But as it turns out, Green almost didn’t return to the Warriors or the NBA.

Speaking on his The Draymond Green Show, Green revealed that he contemplated retiring. It was NBA Commissioner Adam Silver who talked him out of it.

“I told him, ‘Adam this is too much for me. … This is too much. It’s all becoming too much for me — and I’m going to retire,’” Green said. “And Adam said, ‘You’re making a very rash decision and I won’t let you do that.’”

Green also added that talking with Silver helped him a lot and said that he is “thankful to play in a league with a commissioner like Adam who’s more about helping you than hurting you.”

The NBA suspended Green indefinitely after hitting Phoenix Suns’ center Jusuf Nurkic across the face in the third quarter of Golden State’s 119-116 loss to the Suns on December 12. At the time, the league stated that Green would be required to “meet certain league and team conditions before he returns to play.”

Green was sidelined for almost a month due to suspension before being reinstated over the weekend. It is unclear when the 33-year-old player will be back on the court.

The Golden State Warriors just lost another key player in their rotation. Veteran point guard Chris Paul suffered a left hand fracture and will be out indefinitely. Paul is expected to undergo surgery at some point next week.

Paul got hurt during the 113-109 win over the Detroit Pistons on Friday night. The 38-year-old player was going for a rebound when he made contact with one Pistons player. He immediately grabbed his hand and headed to the locker room.

The Warriors didn’t provide a timeline on Paul’s return, but he is expected to be back before the 2023-24 regular season wraps up.

Paul has a history of hand injuries. He previously underwent four surgeries on his hand/wrist, including surgery on his left wrist in 2021.

“That’s tough,” Warriors’ head coach Steve Kerr said about Pual. “I feel so bad for Chris. I know he’s had a couple of hand surgeries before, I believe, maybe on the other hand. I saw him holding it and instantly was worried. Just got the word after walking off the floor. So I feel terrible for Chris, and obviously, guys will step up and be ready to play. We’ve got to hold down the fort without him.”

Chris Paul played 31 games with the Warriors this season. He is averaging 9.0 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 7.3 assists per game.

Golden State is already without suspended forward Draymond Green and shooting guard Gary Payton II, who is dealing with a hamstring injury.

Golden State Warriors forward Gary Payton II is expected to be sidelined for multiple weeks after incurring a hamstring strain, sources familiar with the matter stated. While no official timeline has been given, sources claim that he will be sidelined for a significant period.

Payton was injured during the Warriors’ 121-115 win over the Orlando Magic on Tuesday night when he fought over a screen set with the Magic’s Paolo Banchero, taking a tumble and clutching at his left thigh once he returned to his feet. The Warriors then called a timeout, with Payton heading to the locker room in frustration.

“He’s such a big part of our team,” teammate Chris Paul said. “People may not realize it, but his energy is consistent every day — every practice, every game. Him coming back has been huge for us. So I hope whatever it is isn’t going to take a long time. I think for him, it’s going to be about getting as healthy as possible.” Ranked 11th in the Western Conference standings, the Warriors are also without Draymond Green, who is on an indefinite suspension. They next face reigning NBA champions Denver Nuggets on Thursday night.

The Golden State Warriors veteran forward Draymond Green will miss at least three weeks while serving his indefinite suspension, according to a recent report by The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

Green was suspended by the NBA last week after hitting Phoenix Suns’ center Jusuf Nurkic in the face during the Warriors’ 119-116 loss to the Suns on December 12. At the time, the NBA didn’t give any details about the length of the suspension, but stated that Green would be required to clear several steps before being reinstated.

As part of the process, Green must receive counseling while working closely with Golden State and the league. Charania reports that the 33-year-old already started attending counseling sessions and that the NBA will reconsider his position after three weeks.

If Charania’s report is correct, then Green could miss the following 12 games. He already missed two games since the incident with Nurkic took place.

Green apologized for hitting Nurkic immediately after the Suns game, saying that his actions were unintentional and that he just wanted to get the officials to blow a whistle.

“As you know, I’m not one to apologize for things I meant to do, but I do apologize to Jusuf. Because I didn’t intend to hit him,” Green said at the time. “I sell calls with my arms.”

However, the apology didn’t do much to help Green avoid suspension as the league took into consideration his “repeated history of unsportsmanlike acts.” Green was already suspended once this season, sitting out five games for an incident with Minnesota Timberwolves’ center Rudy Gobert.

The Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry was unable to score a 3-pointer during his team’s 118-114 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday night, bringing an end to a streak of 268 games during which the point guard did so successfully. He went 0-for-8 from 3-point range and 2-for-12 overall.

Apart from holding the longest 3-pointer streak in NBA history, Curry also holds the second-longest streak at 157 games. The last time he went without scoring from the 3-point range was on November 8, 2018, when he went 0-for-4 against the Milwaukee Bucks.

“We can’t rely on Steph to bail us out on every single night,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr remarked after his team’s narrow victory. “It was a tough night for him. But that’s what a team is supposed to be about — everybody filling in for each other, different guys stepping up each night.”

On the back of a two-game winning streak, the Warriors find themselves in 11th place on the Western Conference standings at 12-14. They next face Eastern Conference leaders Boston Celtic on Tuesday night.
