Chilean midfielder Pablo Aranguiz won’t get a second chance with FC Dallas. The MLS side announced earlier this week that they had reached a transfer agreement for Aranguiz with Club Universidad de Chile.

Aranguiz previously joined Universidad on a one-year loan in late 2019. It proved to be a great move for both the player and the club, as the 23-year-old player already scored four goals and added three assists in just 10 Primera Division games.

Pablo Aranguiz arrived in Dallas in 2018 followed by great expectations, as the club signed him to a Designated Player contract and expected him to be one of the cornerstones of the franchise for the future.

The MLS style of soccer, however, didn’t suit Aranguiz the best as he struggled to make an impact on the pitch. He played 20 games in two years and failed to register a single goal or an assist.

Dallas eventually decided to cut their losses and sent the youngster on loan at this boyhood club Union Espanola and then to Universidad.

FC Dallas, which was scheduled to join the rest of the Major League Soccer’s teams in a summer extravaganza featuring teams playing a sort of World Cup-style tournament to determine the league champion, will not take part after all.

Dallas released a statement on Monday stating that they would not be taking part in the proceedings after a litany of positive COVID-19 tests affected its team.

The club has had 10n first-team players and one coach test positive for the coronavirus only a couple of days before it was set to play its first group stage match in the tournament.

Major League Soccer suggested that the team abstain from playing, and the club decided that such a move was for the best.

FC Dallas, which was meant to be one of the four teams in Group B of the tournament in Orlando, Florida, will instead vacate its spot in the competition and leave the other three teams in its group to possibly advance to the knockout stage.

The historic club, which was considered to be one of a number of teams that could have potentially competed for the tournament crowd, will instead have to watch from home as it looks to get healthy and ready for next season.

FC Dallas is saying goodbye to an important part of their squad as their Ecuadorian midfielder Carlos Gruezo is swapping MLS for Europe. Bundesliga side FC Augsburg announced on Tuesday that they have acquired Gruezo from Dallas.

Although the teams have not disclosed the financial terms of the deal, MLS Soccer’s Tom Bogert reports that the transfer is worth $4.5 million. The overall value could go up to $6.2 million if certain incentives are met.

Gruezo will sign a five-year deal with his new team.

“We are convinced Carlos Gruezo will fit into our team very nicely with his style of play. He has already played in the Bundesliga in the past and has continued to develop in the MLS and with the Ecuador national team. We are therefore certain we will enjoy a lot of success with Carlos over the next few years,” – said Augsburg’s sporting director Stefan Reuter in a statement.

Carlos Gruezo joined FC Dallas in 2016, playing 109 games with the organization and providing four goals and seven assists since then. During his time with the organization, he won US Open Cup and Supporters’ Shield.

Prior to his arrival to Dallas, Gruezo spent two and a half years with VfB Stuttgart, where he played 18 games.

“I’m delighted that FC Augsburg have given me the opportunity to return to Germany and play in the Bundesliga for the second time,” – said Gruezo of his return to Bundesliga. “I have gathered a lot of important experience in Dallas and I now want to show that in Augsburg.”

FC Dallas announced on Wednesday that their forward Cristian Colman suffered a torn ACL in his left knee during Tuesday’s practice and will be forced to miss the rest of the 2018 MLS season. Colman will undergo surgery to repair the tear once the swelling in his knee subsides.

The 24-year-old played in 17 matches in all competitions for FC Dallas this season scoring three goals, while being a constant threat to the oppositions’ goal.

Colman’s injury will undoubtedly represent a significant setback for FC Dallas, who are having a terrific season and currently sit at the top of the Western Conference, with two points ahead of Sporting KC. Dallas has four matches left to play in 2018 MLS season, with the first one coming on Sunday against Orlando city.

Cristian Colman started his professional career in his native Paraguay before coming to Dallas in January 2017 as a young designated player. In his first season in MLS, he played 26 games, 10 as a starter, and scored two goals while adding an assist.

Colman represented the U23 Paraguayan national team in the past and was about to make his senior debut, receiving a call-up from manager Juan Carlos Osorio for upcoming friendlies.
