New Orleans Saints finally have a No.2 wide receiver. Saints announced over the weekend that they have signed veteran wideout Emmanuel Sanders.

Sanders, who spent the better part of the past season with San Francisco 49ers, reportedly inked a two-year deal, which will see him make $16 million. The overall value of the contract might go up to $19 million based on incentives.

Prior to joining the Saints, Sanders reportedly had several other offers, including those from Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers, but ended up opting for New Orleans.

“My goal is to always try to win a Super Bowl,” Sanders explained his decision. “I feel like the Saints and myself, we fit best, or they fit best with what I was looking for. It’s a blessing, too, to be in a pass-happy offense and on a great team, so I’m excited about that.”

Emmanuel Sanders already won the Super Bowl with Denver Broncos, where he arguably played the best football of his career and earned two Pro Bowl nods. With Broncos heading down the rebuilding path, Sanders was traded to 49ers in exchange for draft picks.

Sanders ended up catching 36 passes for 502 yards and three TDs in San Francisco while helping the team reach the Super Bowl. The 49ers were hoping to keep him on the roster, but their cap restrictions made it hard for them to make a competitive offer.

Wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders and defensive end Derek Wolfe will remain with the Denver Broncos for at least one more year. Broncos’ general manager John Elway told reporters on Wednesday that the team plans to pick up options for 2019 on both Sanders and Wolfe’s contract.

By keeping Emmanuel Sanders on the roster, Denver is betting that the 31-year-old will completely recover from the ACL tear he suffered last season. Sanders played 12 games in 2018, during which he had 71 receptions for 868 receiving yards and four touchdowns. He is set to earn $10.15 million this year.

“I love the way Emmanuel Sanders plays the game,” – said Elway of Sanders according to the Denver Post. “I love his heart. I love his competitiveness. He would be a great asset for us. But the question is how he is going to come off that Achilles at 31 years old? We’ll be in the process in figuring that out.”

Derek Wolfe played all 16 games last season, and ended the year with 43 tackles, 1.5 sacks, six passes defended and one interception. Wolfe, who was Broncos’ 36th overall pick in 2012, will make $8 million in 2019.
