After delivering three strong seasons in MLS, LAFC’s talented midfielder Eduard Atuesta could be on the move. UOL Esporte’s Bruno Andrade reported on Wednesday that Atuesta is being monitored by top Brazilian clubs, including Palmeiras and Gremio.

According to Andrade, Palmeiras already had one of their bids rejected. LAFC is reportedly asking for $3 million, which is deemed as a steep price by the reigning Copa Libertadores champs as Atuesta is on an expiring contract. The player himself is open to the move and has already said yes to Palmeiras.

The standoff between Palmeiras and LAFC might benefit Gremio, who would also like to bring in the Colombian. Gremio still hasn’t engaged in negotiations with the MLS side but is expected to make an offer soon.

Eduard Atuesta arrived at LAFC ahead of the club’s inaugural MLS season in 2018 and quickly established himself as an indispensable piece in their midfield. He played a total of 72 regular-season games in three years, scoring five goals and dishing 15 assists.

Atuesta also had a strong outing in the postseason, adding goals in LAFC’s playoff runs in 2019 and 2020. He helped the club win the Supporters’ Shield in 2019 while also receiving MLS Best XI spot.
