Rapoport reports that Jackson’s deal is worth $58.4 in total, which makes him the highest-paid safety in the league at the moment. The extension, which keeps the 26-year-old with the organization through 2024, reportedly comes with $33 million in guarantees.

Although Jackson had another year on his rookie deal, Bears probably wanted to act fast in order not to repeat the same mistake they made with Adrian Amos last summer. Amos walked out as a free agent and joined Chicago’s bitter rivals Green Bay Packers.

Despite Chicago Bears’ underwhelming season, Eddie Jackson had a solid year in 2019. He had 60 tackles, five pass deflections, two interceptions, 1.0 sacks, and one forced fumble alongside fumble recovery. This kind of performance brought Jackson his second Pro Bowl appearance in 2019.

Over the course of his three years in the league, Jackson, who was the fourth-round pick in 2017, made 46 starts. His NFL career stats include 147 tackles, 10 interceptions, 2.0 sacks, and two defensive touchdowns.
