The Golden State Warriors veteran forward Draymond Green made NBA history in a 109-114 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday night. He became the first player in the history of the league to record a double-double without taking a single shot.

Green finished the Pelicans game with 12 rebounds and 11 assists. During his 36 minutes on the floor, he didn’t attempt a field goal shot or go to the free throw line.

Speaking with reporters after the game, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr didn’t mind the lack of Green’s contributions on offense. He praised him for his overall contributions and said that he was a big part of the reason why his team had a shot to win the game.

“I don’t care if Draymond shoots or doesn’t shoot,” Kerr said. “He does everything else. He was incredible tonight. His defense was so good, his competitiveness. I thought our guys in the second half, the way they fought, it was amazing to watch just the competitive spirit and the energy.

Draymond Green has had a rocky season in which he was suspended multiple times. However, he is still a crucial part of the Warriors’ team, thanks to his defense and versatility. Green is currently averaging 8.6 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 6.0 assists per game.

The Golden State Warriors veteran forward Draymond Green will miss at least three weeks while serving his indefinite suspension, according to a recent report by The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

Green was suspended by the NBA last week after hitting Phoenix Suns’ center Jusuf Nurkic in the face during the Warriors’ 119-116 loss to the Suns on December 12. At the time, the NBA didn’t give any details about the length of the suspension, but stated that Green would be required to clear several steps before being reinstated.

As part of the process, Green must receive counseling while working closely with Golden State and the league. Charania reports that the 33-year-old already started attending counseling sessions and that the NBA will reconsider his position after three weeks.

If Charania’s report is correct, then Green could miss the following 12 games. He already missed two games since the incident with Nurkic took place.

Green apologized for hitting Nurkic immediately after the Suns game, saying that his actions were unintentional and that he just wanted to get the officials to blow a whistle.

“As you know, I’m not one to apologize for things I meant to do, but I do apologize to Jusuf. Because I didn’t intend to hit him,” Green said at the time. “I sell calls with my arms.”

However, the apology didn’t do much to help Green avoid suspension as the league took into consideration his “repeated history of unsportsmanlike acts.” Green was already suspended once this season, sitting out five games for an incident with Minnesota Timberwolves’ center Rudy Gobert.

The Golden State Warriors received some bad news as they prepare for the start of training camp. According to Jason Dumas of the Bleacher Report, veteran forward Draymond Green is dealing with an ankle sprain and could miss significant time.

Green reportedly got injured during a recent pickup game. He is expected to be limited during training camp, with a sprain keeping him out anywhere from three to six weeks.

Green himself confirmed the injury to ESPN’s Marc J. Spears, but kept a positive attitude about it.

“I dodged a bullet and learned that today by the way it’s (positively) reacting. Even with an MRI, you don’t see the trend of it immediately. The swelling is down,” Green said.

Draymond Green started 73 games for the Warriors in 2022-23, averaging 8.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 5.6 assists per game. He was named to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team at the end of the season.

While Green isn’t filling up the boxscore this late in his career, he is still valuable to the Warriors due to his leadership and defensive prowess. This is why the franchise decided to lock him to a long-term deal back in June, giving him a four-year, $100 million contract extension.

The Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green is declining his player option for the 2023-24 NBA season. Green will now become a free agent and is looking for a new, long-term deal, even if it doesn’t come from the Warriors.

According to Green’s agent Rich Paul, his client will continue talking with Golden State but is also exploring all other options. This includes signing with a new team or executing some kind of sing-and-trade.

The Warriors, on the other hand, have no doubts about their plans for the future. Golden State’s new general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. made it clear in a chat with reporters on Monday that the team wants Greenback.

“We really want Draymond back,” Dunleavy said. “What he means in terms of this organization and this team, winning at the highest level, we feel like we have to have him.”

Draymond Green is often considered the Warriors’ “glue” guy and emotional leader of the locker room. He also remains one of the best defenders in the league on any given night, so it is understandable that Golden State doesn’t want to lose him.

Green finished the 2022-23 campaign, averaging 8.5 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 6.8 assists per game.

Fresh from winning his fourth NBA title with the Golden State Warriors, Draymond Green is looking to get paid. And reportedly, he is looking to get paid the maximum amount of money he can get.

In a recent piece about the Warriors, The Athletic‘s Anthony Slater and Marcus Thompson II reported that Green “wants and believes he deserves a maximum contract extension” from Golden State. The 32-year-old player is entering the final year of his 2019’s max extension, although he has a player option for 2023-24.

Green will become eligible for an extension in early August and would like to have four years added to his current deal, according to the report. This type of contract would pay him $164.2 million in the next five years while keeping him with the franchise through 2026-27, when he’ll be 37 years old.

Unfortunately for Green, the Warriors are not entertaining the possibility of giving him the max deal at the moment. The franchise’s policy is to negotiate a new deal for the player once he enters the final year, meaning that they would prefer to postpone any talks until next summer.

While Green is an important part of the Warriors’ locker room and one of the team’s best players on defense, it is easy to see why the team would be hesitant to commit max money to him.

He hasn’t averaged double digits in points since 2017–18 and has contributed only 8.0 points during this year’s title run.

Golden State Warriors’ star Draymond Green will probably want to forget the 2019/20 NBA season as soon as possible. Not only his team finished with the worst record in the league, but Green also struggled individually and had one of his least productive performances since entering the league.

And while most coaches would be worried to see this from one of their main players, Warriors’ head coach Steve Kerr doesn’t seem to lose sleep over it. According to Kerr, who recently made an appearance on KNBR’s Tolbert, Kreuger, and Brooks podcast, Green was just a victim of a bad situation.

“I think this year was really frustrating for him offensively, and then as a competitor, it was frustrating for him just losing night after night. It’s just too difficult in this league to try to win games when you’re that shorthanded. I think he dealt with the frustration,” said Kerr, alluding to the fact that Warriors played without All-Stars Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry for most of the 2019/20.

Without Thompson and Curry on the court, Green had his statistically worst season since his sophomore year in the NBA, averaging 8.0 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 6.2 assists per game this season. He also shot abysmal 38.9 percent from the field and 27.9 percent from the three-point arc.

But Kerr believes that these performances were an outlier and that Green will return to his “very best version” next season.

“He made it through, and he is getting a much-needed rest,” he added. “And I think we’re going to see the very best version of Draymond next year, whenever next season starts. I feel really good about where he’s going to be mentally and physically.”

It didn’t take long for Golden State Warriors’ forward Draymond Green to earn his first ejection in the new NBA season.

After missing five games due to a finger injury, Green returned to court on Monday night in Warriors’ 122-108 loss to the Utah Jazz. However, the 29-year-old wasn’t there to witness the end of the contest, as he was ejected in the fourth quarter for arguing with officials.

With just below nine minutes left in the game, Green believed he had taken a charge against Jazz’s Mike Conley, but the official didn’t call it. After standing up, he started protesting about the call with officials and ended up earning a technical foul. While the Jazz took the free throw, Green continued to plead his case with one referee who had enough of it and decided to eject him.

Green exited the game with four points, eight rebounds, and four assists.

“I disagreed with that call,” – said Green the game. “And I’m never going to be OK with another grown man telling me, ‘Don’t talk.’ If you feel like you got the call wrong, or right, you don’t tell me not to talk. I’m a grown man. I got my own kids. So that’s what happened.”

Warriors currently find themselves in a world of trouble, as they are at the bottom of West with 2-8 record. This might be the team’s reality this season, as they will be without All-Star Klay Thompson for the rest of the season, while their superstar guard Steph Curry is questionable to return in 2019/20 due to a hand injury.

Following Kevin Durant’s departure and Klay Thompson’s injury, many people were quick to write off Golden State Warriors as a contender this year. The opinion about Warriors became so low that some predict they will even struggle to make the playoffs. Draymond Green, however, doesn’t agree with this.

In a recent interview with ESPN’s Rachel Nichols, Green said that the “Warriors missing the playoffs” talk is crazy.

“I’ve heard people say we’re not gonna make the playoffs. That’s crazy to me,” – said Green. “I mean, that’s just, like, that’s total disrespect, but no different than the disrespect we’ve all been getting for years.”

But Green isn’t mad about this. Instead, he welcomes the skepticism that people have about the Warriors and is happy to embrace the underdog role.

“I like it,” – he added. “You know, being the underdog. It’s been a while since we been the underdog. But it brings that underdog chip back, and I miss that chip. I’m pretty sure Steph [Curry] missed that chip, and some of the stuff Klay been texting me this summer, I’m positive he misses the chip.”

Draymond Green showed his confidence in the Warriors last month when he decided to sign a $100 million extension with the team one year before he was set to hit the free agency. Although he would be one of the most coveted free agents in 2020, Green didn’t want to go through that process and instead reiterated his determination to be with Golden State his entire career.

Green averaged 7.4 points, 7.3 rebounds and 6.9 assists per game with the Warriors last season, while also adding 1.4 steals and 1.1 blocks per game. He was even more productive in the playoffs, averaging 13.3 points, 10.1 rebounds and 8.5 assists.

NBA Western Conference Finals will offer us the spectacle we have been all waiting for. Reigning NBA champions Golden State Warriors will go head to head with the best team in the regular season, Houston Rockets. While the Rockets have said multiple times that they are obsessed with beating the Warriors, it doesn’t seem like it’s the other way around. At least according to Warriors’ forward Draymond Green.

Speaking to the reporters after the 113-104 win against the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday night, Green said that the Warriors team just “want to win another championship and that they “don’t matter who’s in the way of that.”

Man, we won two championships in three years. We’re not about to run off talking about how bad we want to play somebody,” – said Green. “We want to win another championship, and it don’t matter who’s in the way of that. If you’re in the way of that, then you happen to be in the way.

We’ve got a goal. Whoever is in the way of that goal, then we got to see you. You got to see us. All right now, they’re in the way. Perfect. But we’re not running around talking about, ‘Man, we want them bad.’ Nah, we want a championship bad. Another one.” – he added.

In the series against the New Orleans Pelicans, Draymond Green proved to be a crucial player for the Warriors once again, becoming the first player in the franchise’s history to average a triple-double in the playoffs. In five games, Green averaged 14.8 points, 11.8 rebounds and 10 assists per game. He will have to step once again in the Western Conference Finals since the Houston Rockets will not go down without a big fight.

The first game of the series between the Warriors and the Rockets is scheduled for tip off on Monday, May 14, at 9 p.m. in Houston.

The first game of the series between the Warriors and the Rockets is scheduled for tip off on Monday, May 14, at 9 p.m. in Houston.
