Veteran running back Devontae Booker will remain in AFC West in 2020 as well. On Monday, the former Denver Broncos’ back inked a one-year deal to join Las Vegas Raiders.

The reports that Booker decided to join Raiders surfaced last week, but the move was just made official now. In a corresponding move, the team waived linebacker Derrick Moncrief.

Booker didn’t get a lot of carries in 2019 but made significant contributions on special teams. He is now expected to compete for a backup RB spot on the Raiders behind second-year back Josh Jacobs. Among his competition is this year’s third-round pick Lynn Bowden Jr., veteran Jalen Richard, and Rod Smith.

Devontae Booker, who spent his college career with Utah Utes, entered the league in 2016 as Denver Bronco’s fourth-round pick. In his rookie season, Booker managed to have a prominent role in Broncos offense, rushing for 612 yards and four touchdowns.

Despite a promising first year, Broncos didn’t use Booker as much on the offense in the next three seasons. Instead, he took over the team’s kick return duties.

Booker finished the season with two carries for nine yards while catching nine passes for 57 yards. He also played 45 percent of special teams snaps.
