The New York Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers have made a deal that sends linebacker Avery Williamson and a 2022 seventh-round pick to the Steelers in exchange for the Steelers fifth-round pick in 2022.

The Jets is currently the worst team in the NFL and hasn’t won a game this season, while the Steelers are undefeated at 7-0.

New York is already looking towards the draft and getting rid of players that can get them the picks they need for a proper rebuild while the Steelers are filling holes and adding depth in order to make a Super Bowl run.

Williamson has played five games for the Jets this year, registering 50 tackles and one interception. He has recorded at least 100 tackles three times in his career.

The Steelers need help at linebacker after their starter Devin Bush was lost for the season due to a serious knee injury. The trade makes perfect sense for the Steelers, giving them a veteran linebacker that is a sure tackler and can provide depth and playmaking abilities for a defense that is already one of the best in the league.

Williamson is still just 28 years old. According to reports, Williamson’s contract is also going to be restructured before the deal is completed.

According to reports, their talented inside linebacker Devin Bush suffered a torn ACL during the game and will need to have season-ending surgery.

Despite the terrible news, the Steelers still have one of the deepest and most dominant defenses in the league, which they proved again this Sunday by blowing out the Browns 38-7. The Steelers are now 5-0 on the season.

Bush’s injury occurred right before the end of the first half after he hit Browns running back D’Ernest Johnson while defending a pass that went incomplete.

The Steelers are trusting third-year player Robert Spillane to take Bush’s place. Spillane was mostly used as a special teams player before Bush went down with the injury.

Bush was the Steeler’s first-round pick in 2019, taken 10th overall. He has started 19 of the 20 games that he has played with the Steelers. Bush tallied 109 tackles, four fumble recoveries, two interceptions, and two defensive touchdowns in his break-through rookie season.

The versatile linebacker had 21 tackles during the first four games of this season.
