Quarterback Russell Wilson will not play for the Denver Broncos in Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals despite clearing concussion protocol, Broncos coach  Nathaniel Hackett confirmed. The team decided that it was in the player’s best interest for him to sit out one game rather than being rushed back into action.

While inactive for Sunday’s game, Wilson is expected to start on Christmas Day against the Los Angeles Rams according to Hackett. Backup quarterback Brett Rypien will start against the Cardinals in Wilson’s stead.

“As an organization, we decided to give [Wilson] another week to get ready so he’s ready to go for the Los Angeles Rams,” Hackett confirmed following Friday’s practice session. “We informed him of the decision. He’s not happy with it. He wants to be out there and play. … But we as an organization, after talking and discussing for this entire week, have decided it’s best for our organization, best for Russell. And we talked about this all the way from top all the way to the bottom.”

Wilson’s head hit the ground during the fourth quarter of the 34-28 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs last Sunday. After staying on the ground for a few moments, Wilson was helped to his feet by the Broncos’ medical staff.

Denver Broncos announced on Thursday that they have signed former Oakland Raiders punter Marquette King on a three-year deal. According to ESPN, the deal is worth around $7 million. Oakland Raiders released King on March 30th, since he didn’t fit into the plans of team’s new coach Jon Gruden.

The cool thing about the Broncos is the people that work at the Broncos encourage you to be yourself,” – said King. “That is real cool. Players play a lot better when they can let their hair down and be themselves. It’s cool. They encourage it.

The 29-year-old also added that he hopes to kick-start his career with the Broncos and that he felt they were “the best team to go to.”

After getting undrafted in the 2012 NFL Draft, Marquette King signed with the Oakland Raiders after a successful tryout. In 2013 he became team’s starting punter, and led the league in yards per punt, with 48.9. In 2014, he became the NFL punting yards leader for the season with 4,930 yards on 109 punts. Thanks to his good performances, the Raiders signed him to a five-year, $16.50 million extension in 2016.

Broncos have been active on the market in the offseason, signing free agents as well as trading for players. Besides King, they added former Minnesota Vikings quarterback Case Keenum, and traded for Arizona Cardinals tackle Jared Veldheer and Washington Redskins safety Su’a Cravens.

Denver Broncos have a tough quarterback situation, changing three starters at the position in 2017. Trevor Siemian, Paxton Lynch, and Brock Osweiler failed to find success and the team will have to do something about it. The first step, according to the multiple reports, is pursuing Kirk Cousins in the free agency.

The Broncos have made it clear to those close to Cousins that they’re ready to make a big offer.” – reported Sporting News’ Eric Galko. Other media like ESPN, Yahoo Sports, and SiriusXM Radio have all reported that Cousins in Broncos jersey is a possibility. You can check the way that would look like below.

Even the team’s general manager John Elway stated that Broncos need to get better at the position.

We expect to have an answer there, however that goes,” – Elway said about his QB plans. “I think that thought process makes me think we’re going to have a better year. Because the fact is we’ve got to figure out how to get that position playing better. … There is no doubt we’ve got to get better at that position. For us to have a chance to get better, we’ve got to get better at that position.

Washington Redskins were trying to work a long-term deal with Kirk Cousins in 2016 and 2017, but had to use the franchise tag to keep him on one-year deals in both of those years. Now the Redskins don’t have a choice and will either have to give Cousins a big long-term offer or let him walk away. The Broncos are there, waiting.

Cousins was drafted by the Redskins in 2012 NFL Draft with the 105 overall pick. In his first three years with the team, Cousins was getting small opportunities, but it wasn’t until 2015 when he showed his full potential. Since then, he had three consecutive seasons where he passed for over 4,000 yards.
