DeAndre Jordan has joined the Los Angeles Lakers, Vice President of Basketball Operations and General Manager Rob Pelinka announced. The terms of the deal are undisclosed, as stipulated by team policy.

The 33-year-old center decided to join the Lakers after agreeing to a buyout from the Detroit Pistons. His waiver, on September 7, came just four days after Jordan initially joined the team in a trade that saw Sekou Doumbouya and Jahlil Okafor depart for the Brooklyn Nets.

A one-time NBA All-Star, Jordan has appeared in 932 games in his 13-season NBA career. During this time, he has attained career averages of 9.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, 1.0 assists, and 1.6 blocks in 27.4 minutes.

To date, Jordan is the NBA’s all-time leader in career field goal percentage with a shooting percentage of 67.4 from the field. He is also the only NBA player in history to shoot over 70 percent from the field in multiple seasons.

During his last season with the Nets, Jordan averaged 7.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.1 blocks in 21.9 minutes. Most impressively, the 33-year-old big man shot a career-best 76.3 percent from the field.

Brooklyn Nets center DeAndre Jordan has revealed that he has tested positive for the coronavirus and that he will opt out of the rest of the 2020 NBA season as a result of his illness.

Jordan, who signed with the Nets as a free agent last summer on a 4-year, $40 million deal, cited health concerns for himself, family members, and his teammates as reasons that he will stay home instead of participating in the conclusion of the season.

The Texas native has primarily played a reserve role for the Nets this season, recording 8.3 points and 10.0 rebounds per game in just over 20 minutes of action on average.

The Nets, who currently find themselves with a 30-34 record and are in 7th place in the Eastern Conference, will certainly miss their big man’s defensive and rebounding presence in the paint.

The team will have the option to sign a player to replace Jordan for the rest of the season if it chooses to do so. However, there have been no indications as of now that Brooklyn has targeted any specific player to replace their big man.

The NBA is scheduled to get back underway in early August in Orlando, Florida.

The Brooklyn Nets took the NBA world by storm on Sunday after coming to deals with three of the most coveted free agents on the market this offseason.

The Nets have reportedly come to agreements to sign forward Kevin Durant, guard Kyrie Irving, and center DeAndre Jordan, making Brooklyn the center of attention throughout the NBA.

Durant will join the Nets after being one of the NBA’s brightest stars over the past decade. The high-scoring shooter won the MVP Award in 2014, has won two NBA Championships and two NBA Finals MVPs, and will become a crucial piece for the Nets once his Achilles tear has healed.

Irving, for his part, is a six-time NBA All-Star who won a championship with the Cleveland Cavaliers back in 2016. A former #1 overall pick, he has averaged 22.2 points per game in his NBA career on 46% shooting. He was one of the most coveted free agents on the market this year and for good reason.

Finally, the third edition of the Nets’ new “Big 3” is DeAndre Jordan. One of the most quality centers in the league and a veteran at 30 years old, he has averaged double-digit rebounds for the past six seasons and is also considered an elite defensive centers.

The Nets’ new additions will propel them towards being one of the favorites in what is shaping up to be a highly competitive Eastern Conference next season.
