It appears that the Cleveland Browns’ David Njoku is off the market. Reportedly, Njoku decided to withdraw his trade request and is now “all in Cleveland.”

Last month, Njoku decided to ask for a trade from the Browns, believing that a change of scenery would benefit his career. However, the organization showed little interest in making this happen as they wanted to give the talented yet inconsistent 24-year-old tight end another chance.

This approach worked, as Njoku accepted his stay in Cleveland judging by his recent social media post.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Njoku changed his mind after a meeting with Brown’s general manager Andrew Berry. Rapoport added that there is “no trade request anymore.”

David Njoku was the Browns’ first-round pick in 2017 but hardly played like it so far in his career. In the past three years, Njoku only had 93 receptions for 1,066 and nine touchdowns. There is a possibility that he makes a leap under new head coach Kevin Stefanski, but he’ll first have to beat some tough competition.

The Browns invested heavily in the tight end position this offseason, giving Pro Bowler Austin Hooper a record-breaking contract in free agency while snapping Florida Atlantic’s Harrison Bryant in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Cleveland Browns’ David Njoku is looking for a way out. According to Njoku’s agent Drew Rosenhaus, the 23-year-old tight end officially informed the team that he wants to be traded.

Rosenhaus told ESPN that Njoku would like to find a new team before the NFL kicks off with the training camp.

“It is in David’s best interest to find a new team at this time,” said Rosenhaus.

Browns recently picked up the fifth-year option on Njoku’s contract and would reportedly want to keep him with the franchise. However, the player believes he can’t reach his full potential in Cleveland and has been wanting to move on for some time.

Although the Browns value Njoku, they can afford to lose him if the relationship is unsalvageable. The team signed Pro Bowler Austin Hooper to a record deal in the offseason, while they also rookie Harrison Bryant on the depth chart.

Cleveland, however, won’t be able to get much for the player they drafted in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. According to front office insiders, the most other teams would be willing to pay for Njoku is a fourth-round pick, while some even think that fifth-rounder would be enough.

Despite being regarded as a TE with a high ceiling, Njoku struggled to make a mark with Cleveland Browns due to injuries and frequent coaching changes. In 36 games (21 starts) with Browns, he managed to get 93 receptions for 1,066 yards and nine touchdowns.
