Star wide receiver Davante Adams has been the subject of trade rumors for the better part of the offseason, but it appears that he isn’t thinking about playing somewhere else than the Las Vegas Raiders.

During a chat with reporters over the weekend, Adams reiterated his commitment to the Raiders when asked about his future with the franchise.

“If I wanted to be gone, I’d be gone by now,” Adams said via The Athletic. “This is where I want to be.”

Davante Adams landed with the Raiders ahead of the 2022 NFL season in a blockbuster trade from the Green Bay Packers. Adams wanted the change of scenery while also being attracted to the prospects of playing for the Raiders, the team he grew up supporting and the opportunity to team up with his former Fresno State quarterback Derek Carr.

Adams had a great first year in Las Vegas, catching 100 passes for 1,516 yards while leading the league with 14 touchdowns. However, the Raiders missed the playoffs and released Carr in the offseason, causing Adams to air out his frustration.

In 2023, Adams once again delivered from an individual standpoint, finishing the campaign with 103 catches for 1,144 yards and eight TDs, while the Raiders struggled and eventually made coaching and front-office changes.

While many expected that Adams would look for a way out after two disappointing seasons with the Raiders, the six-time Pro Bowler seems encouraged with the direction in which the franchise is headed, especially after interim head coach Antonio Pierce got the job on a full-time basis.

“It’s already helped the morale of the team. It’s what we were all looking for: To be able to continue with the same mindset that we had. That’s our guy,” Adams added.

Speaking with reporters earlier this week, Adams endorsed Pierce as the Raiders’ full-time head coach while adding that the rest of the team’s locker room feels the same way.

“It’s obviously who I wanted,” Adams said. “That’s my vote, and I’ve been vocal about that, and that’s basically how the whole locker room feels, with good reason. He’s come in and done a great job and it’s continued to win us over. It’s not just the comfortable thing, I think having AP here would be good for this organization.”

The Raiders endured a disappointing start to the 2023 campaign, going 3-5 before firing second-year head coach Josh McDaniels and replacing him with Pierce. Since then, the Raiders went 4-4 and looked a lot better on the field, playing inspired football that included a 63-21 win over the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 15.

While Pierce might have the support of the players, there are several things working against him. He only started coaching in the NFL in 2022, landing a linebacker’s coach job with the Raiders, while also having four years of experience coaching at the college level prior to that. The Green Bay Packers managed to mend their relationship with superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers to keep him with the franchise for the foreseeable future. Unfortunately, however, they didn’t manage to do the same with their superstar wide receiver.

According to multiple reports, the Packers have agreed to trade their All-pro wideout Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders. In exchange for Adams, the Raiders will give up their 2022 first-round pick (No. 22) and this year’s second-rounder (No. 53).

Adams, who was franchise-tagged by the Packers earlier this offseason, will also get a new deal as part of the move. He’s signing a five-year, $142.5 million contract that makes him the best-paid wideout in the league. Not only that, but the 29-year-old player is now the highest-paid non-QB player in terms of average annual value and total value in the history of the league.

Reportedly, the Packers were willing to give Adams the same deal that he received from the Raiders and even top it if required. However, the player wanted a change of scenery and preferred to move on. In addition, some believe he was still disgruntled with the fact that Green Bay didn’t give him an extension last season.

The move gives the Raiders an undisputed No. 1 receiver and playmaker that can make a difference on the offensive end. On the other hand, the Packers will have to rebuild their wideout corps that now only has last year’s second-round pick Amari Rodgers and veteran Randall Cobb as viable options.

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce continues to prove that he’s one of the best tight ends in the history of the NFL.

This Sunday, in Kansas City’s win against the Atlanta Falcons, Kelce finished the game with 98 receiving yards and a touchdown on seven catches. Kelce, with one game left to play, now has 1,416 receiving yards on the season, which is a new record for tight ends.

He breaks the record set by San Francisco tight end George Kittle, who set the record in 2018 when he had 1,377 receiving yards on the season. Kittle was unable to compete with Kelce this year, spending most of the year recovering from a broken foot.

This is also the second time that Kelce has owned this record. Kelce actually set a new record in 2018 that was broken about an hour later by Kittle. The two squared off in last year’s Super Bowl, which Kansas City won 31-20.

But this isn’t the only record that Kelce set on Sunday. He also became the first tight end in the history of the NFL with multiple seasons where he caught 100 passes.

Kelce is looking to also become the first tight end in history to lead the league in receiving yards. He has one more week to try and stay ahead of two star wide receivers, Arizona’s DeAndre Hopkins and Green Bay’s Davante Adams.

The veteran quarterback connected with his favorite target Davante Adams 11 times for 142 yards and three touchdowns.

What makes Rodgers’ performance this year even more special is that he seems to continue to win in spite of his team and detractors. While some inexplicably sought to write him off this year, the quarterback has done nothing but win and put up ridiculous numbers in the process.

“I think that’s fair to say,” said Adams when asked whether he is the best wideout in NFL. “I think that’s not being conceited. That’s just being confident. I think, obviously, what I’ve done and what I’m going to continue to do is going to prove that to anybody who isn’t on board with that.”

The monster game against the 49ers wasn’t the only one that backed up Adams’ claim about his stature in the game. For the 27-year-old player, this was the third game with at least 10 receptions, 150 yards, and one touchdown.

This makes Adams the only player in NFL history to have three such games in the first eight weeks of the season. Also, only Detroit Lions’ Calving Johnson managed to do this in a single season.

What’s especially impressive about Davante Adams’ feat is that he managed to do this while being on the field for just six games. He missed two weeks due to a hamstring injury but still has 53 receptions for 675 yards and eight TD.

This kind of production is setting Adams on pace to have a career year. His previous best outing was 2018 when he had 111 catches for 1,386 yards and 13 scores.

With $14.7 million per season, Adams will become the fourth highest paid wide receiver in the league. The Pittsburgh Steelers’ Antonio Brown is on the top of the list with $17 million, followed by Houston Texans’ DeAndre Hopkins who is earning $16.2 million a year and Cincinnati Bengals A.J. Green with $15 million.

Tying up Adams on a long-term deal is a big move for the Green Bay Packers, especially since he became their number one option at the position in the last two seasons. Even the team’s quarterback, Aaron Rodgers previously said he hopes Adams will get a new deal.

“He’s making a lot of money this year,” – said Rodgers. “Hopefully we pay him sooner rather than later. He’s a talented guy who has just proven it week after week. He’s tough to guard. It’s tough to guard him one-on-one.“

At that point, Trevathan drilled his helmet into Adams and knocked him down. Davante Adams ended up in the hospital and was diagnosed with a concussion.

“I saw the hit. It wasn’t intentional. Not at all. I wasn’t trying to break his neck. I was trying to make a play. He was trying to get into the end zone. My speed picked up and I just tried to make a tackle.” – Trevathan tried to explain his actions.

Danny Trevathan played college football at Kentucky, where he led the Southeastern Conference in tackles in 2010. He was named All-American and All-SEC by various national organizations in the same year. Trevathan considered entering the 2011 NFL Draft, but choose to return to Kentucky for his final season. After entering the 2012 NFL Draft, he was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the 6th round with the 188th overall pick.
In his rookie season, Trevathan led the Broncos with 125 tackles, advancing to the Super Bowl where he once again led the team in tackles. In 2014 season, he missed the first 5 weeks with the fractured left kneecap. After a successful 2015 season with the Broncos, in which he helped the team to win the Super Bowl, Trevathan decided to sign $24.5 million, 4-year deal with the Chicago Bears. Trevathan’s NFL career stats include 377 tackles, 4.0 sacks, 24 pass deflections, 5 interceptions, 4 forced fumbles and 1 touchdown.

He was ruled for the rest of the season after suffering a concussion against the Carolina Panthers in Week 15.

After NFL issued a two-game suspension to Danny Trevathan of the Chicago Bears for an unnecessary and violent hit on Green Bay Packers receiver Davante Adams, the suspension was reduced to just 1 game. Appeals officer Derrick Brooks, jointly appointed by NFL & NFLPA, has made the decision.

The incident happened in the third quarter of the Packers vs. Bears game when Davante Adams caught a pass and was in the hands of Bears’ defenders, with play looking over. At that point, Trevathan drilled his helmet into Adams and knocked him down. Davante Adams ended up in the hospital and was diagnosed with a concussion.

“I saw the hit. It wasn’t intentional. Not at all. I wasn’t trying to break his neck. I was trying to make a play. He was trying to get into the end zone. My speed picked up and I just tried to make a tackle.” – Trevathan tried to explain his actions.

Danny Trevathan played college football at Kentucky, where he led the Southeastern Conference in tackles in 2010. He was named All-American and All-SEC by various national organizations in the same year. Trevathan considered entering the 2011 NFL Draft, but choose to return to Kentucky for his final season. After entering the 2012 NFL Draft, he was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the 6th round with the 188th overall pick.
In his rookie season, Trevathan led the Broncos with 125 tackles, advancing to the Super Bowl where he once again led the team in tackles. In 2014 season, he missed the first 5 weeks with the fractured left kneecap. After a successful 2015 season with the Broncos, in which he helped the team to win the Super Bowl, Trevathan decided to sign $24.5 million, 4-year deal with the Chicago Bears. Trevathan’s NFL career stats include 377 tackles, 4.0 sacks, 24 pass deflections, 5 interceptions, 4 forced fumbles and 1 touchdown.

Davante Adams, wide receiver for the Green Bay Packers, has been released from the hospital on Friday. Adams was hospitalized on Thursday night after Chicago Bears linebacker Danny Trevathan performed an unnecessary and dirty hit on him. After leaving the hospital, Adams went on his Twitter profile and shared an update on his condition.

“Davante Adams is technically in the concussion protocol. He’s home. Had a chance to visit with Davante briefly last night. He’s rambunctious and ready to move forward. But yes, he’s home and everything looks good.” –said Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy on Friday.

In the third quarter of the convincing win against the Bears, Packers’ Davante Adams caught a pass and found himself surrounded by the Bears’ defenders. Adams was held up and the play was basically over. Danny Trevathan obviously didn’t think so, since he drilled his helmet into Adams’ and knocked him on the ground. After the tackle, Adams was taken off the field and Bears only received a 15-yard penalty. Now the play is being reviewed for possible further discipline according to league sources.

“I did not [realize how bad it was],” Danny Trevathan said after the game. “I realized it once he laid there for while. I knew it wasn’t good. I immediately dropped down and started praying.“

Trevathan also added that he didn’t have any intentions to hurt Adams.

“I saw the hit. It wasn’t intentional. Not at all. I wasn’t trying to break his neck. I was trying to make a play. He was trying to get into the end zone. My speed picked up and I just tried to make a tackle.” – argued Trevathan while saying that his main concern is that Davante Adams is ok.
