Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott made a promise this week that he won’t be as reckless with the ball in 2023 as he was last season. Prescott led the league in interceptions in 2022 with 15 picks and did it while playing just 12 games.

Speaking with reporters on Monday, Prescott touched on the subject of interceptions and said he believes they won’t be an issue this year because head coach Mike McCarthy will be calling plays.

“Some of it is the offense and them understanding exactly where we are,” Prescott said. “Mike does an amazing job with those guys [wide receivers]. They know where to be, and why to be when they’re getting looked at. That’s going to be a big jump. “

Dallas Cowboys and quarterback Dak Prescott spent the majority of the past year negotiating an extension, but didn’t manage to strike a deal until now. And, as recent reports suggest, they are still a long way from finding an agreement.

According to NFL Network and ESPN, the most likely outcome of this situation will be Cowboys placing a franchise tag on Prescott. However, they added that neither side would be happy with this solution.

Reportedly, Dallas would like to resolve the situation quickly and will continue to insist on a long-term deal in the next weeks. Prescott, after playing on a $2 million contract last season, would also like the long-term security, but isn’t willing to budge from his terms in order to get it right away.

The biggest issue in the talks is the determination of Prescott’s value. Reports say that Dallas is willing to make Prescott among the most paid QBs in the league, but that isn’t enough for the player. The 26-year-old two-times Pro Bowler instead wants to reset the QB market and become the highest-paid player on the position.

Prescott rejected the contract offer last offseason and instead decided to bet on himself in 2019. Although he had career year statistically, throwing for 4,902 and 30 touchdowns, this didn’t translate into wins. Cowboys missed the playoffs, finishing with 8-8, which is something that the front office is probably using it as leverage in the negotiations.

Here are the biggest winners of Week 2.

Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks extended their record to 2-0 with a tight 28-26 win in Pittsburgh on Sunday. Neither of their first two games were pretty, with their first game resulting in a squeaked-out win against the Bengals. Nonetheless, no one in the Pacific Northwest can be upset about the team’s performance as a whole.

Quarterback Russell Wilson was the star of the show at Heinz Field last weekend, completing 29 of 35 passes for 300 yards and 3 touchdowns, one of the best games in his excellent career. Could they challenge the Rams in the NFC West?

Dak Prescott

Dak Prescott might still be waiting on the big contract extension that his running back partner Ezekiel Elliott got, but he might not have to wait for long if he keeps playing like he did in Week 2 for the Cowboys in a 31-21 win at FedEx Field.

Prescott has the Cowboys’ offense flying high, and no one can doubt his importance to the team after Week 2. The third-year signal caller went 26-30 in the air with 269 passing yards, 3 touchdowns, and only one interception. Cowboy Nation loves their franchise quarterback, and it’s easy to see why.

Buffalo Bills

The Bills might’ve been one of the least likely teams to start 2019 with a 2-0 record, yet here we are. After squeaking by the Jets at Metlife Stadium in Week 1, they returned on Sunday and won in convincing fashion, beating the Giants 28-14.

Buffalo’s strength lies in its defensive solidity. The team has only allowed 30 points in its first two games and is allowing the sixth-fewest yards per game in the league. If Josh Allen and Buffalo’s running attack, spearheaded by Frank Gore, can be halfway competent, the Bills could find themselves sneaking into playoff contention.

2017 Cleveland Browns and 2008 Detroit Lions

Why are two teams that aren’t even participating in this NFL season on the list? Well, chock it up to this year’s Miami Dolphins.

There’s company in misery, and the ’17 Browns and ’08 Lions could be joined by this year’s Dolphins as the only teams in league history to have gone 0-16. The Dolphins were embarrassed by the Patriots on Sunday, losing 43-0, and looked completely non-competitive. Can head coach Brian Flores get something out of a very limited roster? It looks unlikely.
