Pittsburgh Steelers recently turned to the free-agent market to address secondary depth. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Steelers signed veteran safety Curtis Riley to a one-year deal. The financial terms of the agreement are yet to be revealed.

Riley spent the 2019 season with the Raiders, where he stepped in for the injured Johnathan Abram. He ended up contributing with 34 tackles, one pass deflection, and one forced fumble.

Rapoport reports that Riley already underwent his physical and should join the rest of the team shortly.

With Curtis Riley, Steelers now have a veteran who can play a solid role in safety but can also fill in the cornerback position. Riley is also accomplished as part of special teams, having played third-most snaps on STs with Raiders last year.

Riley previously also played with Tennessee Titans and New York Giants. He had his best pro season with the latter, managing 75 tackles, five passes defended, four interceptions, and one defensive touchdown in 2018 season.
