The Los Angeles Lakers and Clippers are the latest two teams to get impacted by the sweeping trend of franchises requiring their players to get vaccinated. Up until now, San Francisco and New York City had required their players to be fully vaccinated in order to play home games—and now, both Laker and Clipper players will have to as well.

But it’s not just players that will now be impacted by this news. Any fan entering Staples Center to attend a Lakers or Clippers will have to provide proof of being vaccinated. However, there is a slight difference between the rules surrounding the fans and the players.

For instance, a fan can request exemption from the vaccination if they either have a medical condition or if they have a sincere religious obligation that prevents them from getting it. In these cases, these particular fans would have to provide a negative COVID-19 test from within 72 hours prior to the game. This isn’t a privilege that players are awarded.

The NBA has repeatedly shown their willingness to comply with health regulations to ensure the safest possible experience for players, fans, and all staff—and clearly, more and more cities are stepping up to the occasion to show that they too are on board.

The Las Vegas Raiders were one of the first teams penalized this year for not following COVID-19 protocols, but it appears that they haven’t learned from their mistakes.

The team was fined yet again, this time receiving a hefty fine of $500,000 to pay. On top of that, the Raiders will be stripped of their sixth-round draft pick because of repeated violations.

The league began another investigation into the Raiders organization after their star offensive tackle Trent Brown tested positive for COVID-19 in late October.

On top of all these punishments, head coach Jon Gruden was fined for the second time this season for failing to consistently wear his mask during the games and will have to pay a $150,000 fine. Gruden was already fined $100,000 earlier in the season for the same violation.

In total, the NFL has now taken $1.2 million and a draft pick from Las Vegas because of COVID-19 protocol violations.

League sources say that NFL investigators found several health and safety guideline violations while visiting the team’s facility. The Raiders were also reprimanded earlier for allowing players to attend a large indoor gathering and allowing unauthorized personnel into the locker room after a game.

All five of the Las Vegas Raiders starting offensive linemen have been placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

The first to go to the list was right tackle Trent Brown, who tested positive for COVID-19. And since all of the other starting linemen were in close contact with Brown, all of them were deemed “high-risk contact” and placed on the COVID-19 list, along with safety Johnathan Abram.

They will all need to quarantine for the rest of the week and if they all test negative on Sunday, they could be able to play. The Raiders currently only have five active offensive linemen on the roster and two more on the practice squad. They need a minimum of eight on game day in order to play.

Las Vegas was scheduled to take on the Tampa Bay Buccanneers on Sunday night but will now play the afternoon game, with the Seattle Seahawks-Arizona Cardinals game taking the primetime spot.

The NFL and NFLPA will also be investigating the Raiders and whether they have followed COVID-19 protocols. Reports also claim that Brown will be investigated to see whether he was wearing his league-mandated tracking device at all times.

For the first time since 1949, the NFL will not be hosting its annual Pro Bowl game because of obvious concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The league’s primary focus right now is to try to get through the entire season and postseason with minimal impact by the coronavirus.

So far, the NFL has done a decent job playing during a pandemic, but there have been several hiccups along the road through the first five weeks of the 2020 season.

A total of 12 games have been postponed or reschedule so far and there have been a total of 11 teams that have reported positive COVID-19 cases among their players and staff.

The team that was most impacted was the Tenessee Titans, who had one game rescheduled and one postponed after more than 20 players and personnel tested positive.

The league announced that the 2022 Pro Bowl will be held in Las Vegas, the city that was supposed to host it this year in its brand new Allegiant Stadium.

Even though there won’t be a Pro Bowl game, there will still be Pro Bowl teams and fans are still encouraged to participate in voting and celebrating the achievements of their favorite players.

International soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has been diagnosed with COVID-19 and has entered insolation after learning of the news.

Ronaldo, who had been with the Portugal men’s national team while participating in the UEFA Nations League competition, got news of his positive test on Tuesday while with the team in Lisbon.

The Juventus star last played in a match on Sunday, when Portugal drew 0-0 with France in a Nations League group stage matchup in Paris. Ronaldo played all 90 minutes of the match and appeared to be healthy.

There is speculation that Ronaldo could have been infected by a Juventus coaching staff member after it was revealed last week that two of them had tested positive for the virus.

Fortunately for the star player, the Portuguese soccer federation confirmed in a statement that he is currently symptom-free and feeling fine despite testing positive.

A round of testing for the rest of the players on the national team also conducted on Tuesday, found no other positive results.

The 35-year-old scorer will now remain in isolation in Portugal until he receives two negative test results, which is when he will be cleared to return to his team for training.

Juventus is set to take on Crotone this Saturday in a match that their star player will almost certainly be forced to miss.

The New England Patriots now have three team members that have tested positive for COVID-19.

The latest is Pro Bowl cornerback Stephon Gilmore, who received a positive test on Wednesday morning. The Patriots did not practice and might not even be able to play their next game on Sunday against the Denver Broncos.

The first Patriot to test positive was quarterback Cam Newton, who has been in quarantine since last week and did not play on Monday night against the Kansas City Chiefs.

The game was initially moved from Sunday to Monday because of Newton’s positive test. The Patriots, led by veteran backup Brian Hoyer, lost the game 26-10.

The third player with a positive test is practice squad defensive tackle Bill Murray. All three are now on the NFL’s reserve/COVID-19 list.

Since Murray is on the practice squad, he did not make the trip with the Patriots to Kansas City. However, Gilmore did, which means that an outbreak within the Patriots organization could follow.

As of Wednesday, the Chiefs did not have any players that tested positive for the coronavirus. The Chiefs are scheduled to travel to Las Vegas this weekend to face the Raiders.

The New England Patriots star quarterback Cam Newton has tested positive for COVID-19 and has been placed on the COVID injured reserve list.

The Patriots were scheduled to play the reigning NFL champion Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night, but the game will be rescheduled to ensure the safety of all players and staff.

According to the Patriots, no one else from the team has tested positive for the coronavirus as of yet. The team has been performing mass testing and all of the players and personnel that were in contact with Newton most recently will continue to receive special attention, even though there have been no new positive cases reported.

Even if the game is effectively rescheduled and played this week, no one really knows how many weeks the Patriots will be without their starting quarterback. It is expected that journeyman veteran Brian Hoyer will be the starting quarterback until Newton is ready to come back.

The only other quarterback that the Patriots have on the roster is rookie Jarrett Stidham, who has been listed as inactive for all three weeks of the season.

Newton, a former league MVP, was signed in the offseason for very little money and has been playing incredibly well, leading the Patriots to a 2-1 start.

The Tennessee Titans have three players and five personnel who have tested positive for COVID-19 after returning from their trip to Minnesota, where they played the Vikings on Sunday.

According to reports, the Vikings have not had any positive tests but are shutting down facility operations just in case.

This will be the NFL’s first real test to see how they will be able to maneuver and play games during the pandemic when positive cases appear.

Unlike in baseball, where the MLB had to cancel games when teams had positive tests, the NFL has a week between games, giving them room to try and get the virus under control in team facilities without having to cancel games.

The Titans are going to work “remotely” this week, which means they might have one practice before their next game against the Steelers, who they will host in Tennessee.

As of now, the NFL has not made any decisions on whether the game will be played and will be monitoring and managing the situation on a day-to-day basis.

While there are no indications that point to any of the tests being false positives, the players and staff members will have to take several more tests over the course of the next few days to confirm the results.

The Titans are currently undefeated with a 3-0 record and stand atop of the AFC South division.

New York Mets Legend and one of the greatest pitchers in the history of baseball, Tom Seaver has died at the age of 75.

The Hall of Famer died Monday. According to his family, he passed peacefully in his sleep from complications of Lew body dementia and COVID-19.

Seaver played 20 seasons from 1967-1986 and retired with a 311-205 record and a 2.86 ERA. To say he was one of the greatest pitchers to ever take the mound is, frankly, selling him short.

He is best known for his time with the Mets, spending 10 years in New York. Seaver is regarded as the greatest player in Mets’ history. He led the “Miracle Mets” to a World Series championship in 1969. The Mets retired Seaver’s No. 41 in 1988.

He won three Cy Young awards in 1969, 1973, and 1975 and finished second in Cy Young voting twice. Seaver was also selected to play in 12 All-Star Games. He was the National League Rookie of the Year in 1967, registering a 2.76 ERA in 251 innings pitched.

Seaver also worked for a period as a television analyst, calling Mets and Yankees games.

The NFL just had one of its biggest coronavirus-related scares since the preseason started.

Namely, 77 COVID-19 tests came back positive on Saturday from a laboratory in New Jersey that the league is working with to test its players and staff on a regular basis. Thankfully, it was revealed that all of the test results were false-positives. All of the players and staff members that received a positive test were retested and deemed negative for the coronavirus.

According to the league, this was an isolated incident that occurred at BioReference Laboratories. As soon as the positive tests came in, the teams took all necessary precautions and none of the 77 individuals were at team activities the following day.

An investigation revealed that there was an isolated contamination that occurred during testing preparations at the laboratory, which is what caused the false-positive results.

A handful of teams were affected by the initial results and were forced to modify their activities. The Bears had nine false-positives, the Jets had 10, and the Browns, Packers, Vikings, and Bills all had several players test positive before it was confirmed that the tests were not accurate.

The New York Giants, who practices in New Jersey, had a couple of staffers that had false-positive results, but no players.

With the season approaching, the NFL can breathe a sigh of relief that these results were not accurate. The league has been doing well keeping COVID-19 infections down, with only three of nearly 3,000 players at camp currently on the reserve/COVID-19 list.
