The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 3-1 on Tuesday night to secure their first World Series title since 1988.

They wouldn’t have been able to do so without the massive performance from shortstop and superstar Corey Seager, who was named the unanimous World Series MVP after Game 6’s conclusion.

Seager, the first shortstop to win the MVP award since Edgar Renteria did so for the rival San Francisco Giants ten years ago, was the heart of Los Angeles’s potent offense as they slugged their way past the Rays.

The 26-year-old Seager hit .400 with two home runs, five RBI, and six walks over the series’ six games. Arguably his biggest moment wasn’t even a hit, but rather a ground ball to Rays’ first baseman Ji-Man Choi in the sixth inning of last night’s game that scored Mookie Betts and gave the Dodgers a 2-1 lead.

Seager is the first player to win the World Series MVP award and the National League Championship Series award since the Dodgers’ Orel Hershiser did so in 1988, proving that the shortstop had one of the most impressive Postseasons in baseball history.

The laid-back North Carolinian was presented with the Willie Mays MVP Award Trophy and won a brand new Chevrolet following the conclusion of the game.
