USC coach Lincoln Riley will provide Kingsbury with a Trojans reunion, with the ex-Cardinals coach formerly acting as USC’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in December 2018.

Kingsbury left the team a month later to become the Cardinals’ head coach, where he remained for four years. With a record of 28-37-1 during his four seasons as head coach, Kingsbury led the Cardinals to the playoffs once.

“Lincoln has been looking for ways to explore getting better,” a source close to the situation commented. “Lincoln is 100 percent focused on doing everything he can to make his team better, and this is an example of it.”

As a quarterbacks coach, Kingsbury has trained top NFL stars such as Patrick Mahomes when he was at Texas Tech, Case Keenum during his time at Houston, and Johnny Manziel during his Heisman Trophy season in 2012 at Texas A&M.

Hillis has been hospitalized since January 4, when he was in critical condition after being injured while attempting to rescue a family member in a near-drowning incident off the coast of Pensacola, Florida.

Escambia County emergency services, which was involved in the rescue, noted that there were four people—two adults and two children—who were struggling to stay afloat in the water when a bystander attempted to help them out. After paramedics arrived on the scene, both adults were transported to the hospital, with one being taken by helicopter. After just three seasons in charge of the Tennessee Volunteers, sources have revealed that the university is set to fire head coach Jeremy Pruitt after two losing seasons and an NCAA investigation.

Pruitt was hired to coach the Vols prior to the 2018 season after spending two seasons as the Alabama Crimson Tide’s defensive coordinator. He was brought in with the hopes that he would revitalize a long-dormant giant, but was unable to do so in Knoxville.

The Alabama native limped to a 5-7 record during his first season with the Vols but then improved to 8-5 with a Gator Bowl win over Indiana in 2019.

However, things went downhill again this season when the team finished 3-7 and failed to qualify for a bowl game.

Pruitt is also being investigated due to potential recruiting violations, a factor that weighed heavily in the university’s decision to dismiss him from his post.

The investigation also means that Pruitt is being fired “with cause”, meaning that Tennessee should be able to avoid paying his hefty buyout clause.

Tennessee will now begin the task of looking for a new head coach, which will be their fourth over the course of the past decade.

History was made on Saturday afternoon in Columbia, Missouri, as Vanderbilt’s Sarah Fuller became the first woman ever to play Power 5 college football.

Fuller, a standout on the Commodores’ women’s soccer team was given the opportunity to serve as Vanderbilt’s placekicker in their 41-0 loss to Missouri after the team’s other options at the positions were ruled out because of COVID-19 concerns.

Other women had played college football games before, including New Mexico’s Katie Hnida in 2003 who became the first woman to score at the FBS level, but this was the first time that one took the field in a game featuring a top conference.

While her team didn’t score or get within field goal range during the game, she had one chance to take the field in her team’s blowout loss, a kickoff to start the second half.

She took the field and make history, booting a squib kick downfield that was recovered without a return by the Tigers at the 35 yard line.

After the game, Fuller expressed her desire for this historic moment to inspire girls. “I just want to tell all the girls out there that you can do anything you set your mind to,” she said.

Fuller is expected to remain on the team and might get more chances to play in Vanderbilt’s season finale against Georgia this weekend.

After another disappointing loss over the weekend, the University of South Carolina dismissed head football coach Will Muschamp from his position.

Muschamp, who took over as the Gamecocks’ head coach prior to the 2016 season, saw his team continue to struggle this season after a 4-8 season in 2019 that put his job status in jeopardy.

The Gamecocks, who after losing 59-42 to Ole Miss on Saturday dropped to 2-5 on the season, decided to make the decision and move on after not seeing improvement this year.

Muschamp started off well in his tenure at South Carolina after being hired by the team in 2016. While not being one of the top teams in the conference, the Gamecocks made bowl games in each of his three seasons at the helm and finished with winning records in 2017 and 2018.

However, it became clear to the school’s administration that things were going the wrong way after the past two season’s failures.

Athletic director Ray Tanner said after announcing the move on Sunday, “We appreciate all that Will Muschamp has done for our program and wish him and his family the best moving forward.”

Offensive coordinator and former Colorado State head coach Mike Bobo will serve as the interim head coach for the remainder of the season.

The first domino in what could be the sequence of events that leads to the cancellation of the fall college football season fell on Tuesday as the Big Ten conference announced that it would postpone all fall sports.

This means that football in the Big Ten conference will not take place, meaning that some of the country’s biggest programs like Ohio State, Michigan, and Penn State will not play in Fall 2020.

The Big Ten, one of the “Power Five” conferences in college football along with the Big 12, the Pac-12, the SEC, and the ACC, became the first of this powerful group of conferences to announce that football would not take place this fall.

While other conferences have expressed mixed feelings about possibly playing this fall in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has hit the United States particularly hard, the Big Ten became the first conference to make a decision one way or the other.

Big Ten commissioner Kevin Warren stated, “It became abundantly clear that there was too much uncertainty regarding potential medical risks to allow our student-athletes to compete this fall.”

Now, it appears that other conferences may be pressured into taking the same step to protect student-athletes’ safety and postponing the 2020 football season until the situation is safer.

After a severely disappointing 2019 season that ended with a 4-8 record and a second consecutive season with a losing record, Ole Miss decided to part ways with former head coach Matt Luke.

On Sunday, the Rebels decided on the coach that will lead them forward in the future.

Lane Kiffin, the polarizing and enigmatic coach who has held some of the most high-profile jobs in the country, has been signed as Ole Miss’s new head coach.

The 44-year-old coach spent the past three seasons as the head coach of the Florida Atlantic Owls. Here, Kiffin rebuilt a reputation that had suffered after tenures at Tennessee and USC that were marred by middling results and controversy.

Kiffin finished with a 26-13 record at FAU, qualifying the team for two bowl games in three seasons and winning two Conference USA championships. This year, the Owls achieved a 10-2 record and qualified to play in the Boca Raton Bowl.

The stakes will be higher for Kiffin with the Rebels, who are desperately looking to be competitive in the cut throat SEC. Ole Miss hasn’t won a bowl game or finished with a winning conference record since 2015.

Kiffin’s deal with Ole Miss is reportedly for 5 years and $21 million, lasting through the end of the 2024 season.

After yet another demoralizing loss, the Arkansas Razorbacks have decided to fire head football coach Chad Morris.

Arkansas, who hired Morris just last summer, simply could not wait any longer for the program to fall further. In just under two seasons as the Razorbacks’ head coach, Morris managed a dismal 4-18 record with the team.

What’s even worse is that Morris went 0 for 14 in Southeastern Conference play, failing to win a single conference game during his tenure with the Hogs.

The loss that sealed the deal was the embarrassing 45-21 at the hands of Sun Belt team Western Kentucky on Saturday. The former SMU coach’s team was humiliated by the unranked Roadrunners at their home stadium, something most fans just couldn’t bear to see.

It wasn’t the only embarrassing non-conference loss suffered by Arkansas this season, which also lost at home to lowly San Jose State.

The Razorbacks, who signed Morris to a six-year, $21 million contract in December of 2017, will now be forced to pay their former coach around $10 million as part of his buyout.

Tight ends coach and special teams coordinator Barry Lunley Jr. will finish out the season as the team’s head coach, according to the university’s athletic department.
