The 5-time All-Star underwent the surgery in New York City after suffering a foot injury in the season opener. He has previously complained about the injury and missed several games for the Cavaliers. Earlier in the week, Love confirmed he could be sidelined for several weeks as he nurses a left toe injury.

When he is fit, Love is one of the best players in the league. In his NBA debut with Timberwolves, the then 20-year-old finished season with the most rebounds among the rookies and ninth in the whole league. He logged 29 double-doubles, a record for the franchise.
