The Cleveland Browns star Amari Cooper is set to return from injury against the Houston Texans in his team’s wild-card round clash on Saturday. The wide receiver sat out the last two games as he recovered from a heel injury.

“It’s getting better every day,” Cooper confirmed on Wednesday. “I’m running around now. Just a typical injury that you have to work through.” He added that he could have played in Sunday’s 31-14 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, however, the Browns opted to rest most of their starters since they had already clinched the No. 5 seed in the AFC playoffs.

Named to his fifth Pro Bowl of his career as well as his first since being traded to the Browns in 2022, Cooper has enjoyed a strong season, making 72 receptions and a career-high 1,250 receiving yards. On December 24, he set a Browns’ record of 265 receiving yards as his team beat the Houston Texans 36-22. He also scored two touchdowns.

The Cleveland Browns defeated the New York Jets 37-20 on Thursday night to clinch a playoff berth for the first time since 2020. This is only the struggling franchise’s third playoff appearance since 1999.

“Pretty special night for this organization,” Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski exclaimed following the team’s victory. “Pretty special night for the fans out there.” Quarterback Joe Flacco emerged as the Browns’ key player on the night, passing for 296 yards in the first half—the most in any half of his career. The quarterback threw three touchdown passes in the first half.

Flacco has thrown over 300 yards in every win in Cleveland’s four-game winning streak. The 38-year-old has come a long way since going unsigned during the offseason following three seasons with the Jets. Ultimately, Cleveland decided to add Flacco to their practice squad on November 20 after starting quarterback Deshaun Watson following a season-ending injury.

Wideout Amari Cooper is coming through for the Cleveland Browns when it matters the most. In Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans, Cooper made 11 catches for 265 receiving yards and two touchdowns to help his team to a 36-22 win while also entering his name in the franchise’s history books.

Cooper’s 265 receiving yards are the most ever by a Browns player in a single game. The previous record was held by Josh Gordon, who had 261 yards in 2013 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

On top of that, Cooper became the first player in franchise history to record back-to-back seasons with at least 1,000 receiving yards. The 29-year-old player finished the 2022 campaign with 1,160 receiving yards and already reached 1,250 yards in 2023.

“Yeah, I mean every time I step on the field, I try to put forth my best effort, I do truly feel like I’m unguardable,” Cooper told NFL Network after the Texans game. “You know it’s all about opportunities, and I had a lot of opportunities today, so I was able to take advantage of them.”

Cooper also made sure to give a shout-out to Browns’ quarterback Joe Flacco for finding him on the field.

“To be completely candid, I would attribute most of it to Joe,” he added. “He has an incredible feel for the game.”

The Browns improved to a 10-5 record after the win over the Texans. They are almost certain to make the playoffs while remaining in the race for the AFC North title.

The Cleveland Browns right tackle Dawand Jones will be sidelined for the rest of the season after he undergoes a season-ending surgery on his knee, Browns coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed on Monday. The rookie injured his knee during a practice session last Tuesday.

“I’ve seen Dawand make great strides on and off the field,” Stefanski commented. “I thought he got better as the season went on. Disappointed for him. He played well in a lot of these games.” A fourth-round pick out of Ohio State, Jones has been the Browns’ starting right tackle since Week 2, making his absence a significant blow for the team.

James Hudson III is expected to play in Jones’ stead. Hudson replaced the rookie right tackle during the Browns’ 31-27 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. Cleveland is also struggling at left tackle, with regular starting left tackle Jedrick Wills Jr. on injured reserve due to a knee setback.

Deshaun Watson’s NFL season has come to a premature end after he suffered a shoulder fracture. The surgery that he will undergo on his throwing shoulder will require him to remain out of action for the rest of the season.

“It’s very tough,” Watson emotionally said. “Hurt about it. I’m still in disbelief. I’m still trying to process all the information. I felt like we were turning a corner to really make a run and still believe we still will with the guys in this locker room. I just wanted to physically be a part of it. … It’s tough to try to wrap everything around my head right now.”

The Browns’ star quarterback injured his shoulder during the first half of the 31-33 win over the Baltimore Ravens, however, he opted to play through it. On Monday, an MRI revealed that Watson incurred a displaced fracture to the glenoid in his right shoulder. During the Ravens game, Watson produced a stellar performance, completing all 14 of his attempted passes.

The Cleveland Browns still don’t know whether their starting quarterback, Deshaun Watson, will be ready to go for the Week 6 clash against the San Francisco 49ers. But what they do know is that they want P.J. Walker to be under center if Watson is forced to miss the game.

Watson has been dealing with a lingering shoulder injury that caused him to miss the 3-28 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. Cleveland turned to rookie signal-caller Dorian Thompson-Robinson, who struggled in his first NFL start and finished the game with three interceptions.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Thompson-Robinson’s poor performance prompted Browns’ head coach Kevin Stefanski to demote the UCLA Bruins product to third string and elevate Walker from the practice squad to serve as Watson’s backup.

Speaking with reporters on Thursday, Stefanski didn’t offer much detail about Watson’s status for the 49ers game, saying the team is yet to make the final decision.

“With injuries, you just have to treat each one specifically,” Stefanski said. “And with this one, that’s what we’re doing. So (we’re) just taking information from our medical staff, from Deshaun, and making sure that we’re making the right decisions with everything.”

P.J. Walker spent 2022 with the Carolina Panthers, playing in six games and making five starts. He had 731 passing yards, three touchdowns, and three interceptions, leading the Panthers to a 2-3 record.

The Cleveland Browns’ Monday Night Football clash against the Pittsburgh Steelers finished a lot worse than anyone could expect. The Browns suffered a 26-22 loss while also seeing their star running back Nick Chubb suffer what seems to be a season-ending knee injury.

Chubb got hurt in the second quarter after Pittsburgh’s safety Minkah Fitzpatrick slammed into him while making a tackle. The 27-year-old Pro Bowler remained lying on the ground and had to be carted off.

While speaking with reporters after the game, Browns’ head coach Kevin Stefanski said that the full scope of Chubb’s injury is yet to be determined. However, Stefanski confirmed that he believes his best offensive player won’t play again in 2023.

“Obviously, Nick’s got a very significant knee injury, which is, you feel for the person,” Stefanski said. “He’s a great football player, as we know, but he’s an even better person. So we will support him every step along the way.”

Chubb has been the Browns’ biggest star on offense in recent years and was widely considered the best running back in the game. He made Pro Bowls in each of the past four years and has one Second-Team All-Pro nod.

Replacing Chubb will be tough for the Browns, especially since they don’t have that much depth in the running back position. If Cleveland decides to stay put, the coaching staff will likely turn to Chubb’s backup, Jerome Ford, to serve as their new main rusher.

Multiple sources confirmed on Monday that defensive end Jadeveon Clowney has agreed to remain with the Cleveland Browns. The contract, worth a maximum of $11 million, will see the 29-year-old player play for the Browns for another full season.

Clowney amassed two forced fumbles and nine sacks for the Browns last season, wrapping up what has been arguably his best season in the NFL to date. The new deal presents a payment increase from his previous $10 million one-year agreement with the Browns, which also included $750,000 in sack bonuses.

Last season proved to be a major career turnaround for Clowney, who combatted multiple injuries over the years. While playing for the Tennessee Titans in 2020, Clowney struggled to find his form, failing to make a single sack before a knee injury requiring surgery ruled him out of action for the remainder of the season.

2021 proved to be a year of regrowth for the defensive end as he managed to feature in 14 games and complete the regular season with two sacks and a forced fumble in the final game.

Following this strong performance, Clowney was interested in remaining at Cleveland provided that his financial requests could be met. “You play at a high level, you want to get paid,” he remarked.

The Cleveland Browns spent the majority of the offseason saying they are committed to Baker Mayfield as their franchise quarterback of the future. Their recent actions, however, indicate this isn’t the case.

According to multiple reports, the Browns joined the list of teams trying to trade for the Houston Texans’ Pro Bowl QB Deshaun Watson. Cleveland is reportedly ready to be aggressive in their pursuit and have already met with the player to make their pitch. Watson has a no-trade clause in his contract and would have to waive it in order to make any trade possible.

Watson is reportedly also considering the Carolina Panthers, the New Orleans Saints, and the Atlanta Falcons as his possible destination. All the previously mentioned teams are believed to have a deal in place with Houston and only need to convince the player to get the trade over the finishing line.

Browns’ decision to pursue Deshaun Watson didn’t sit well with Mayfield, who acknowledged his uncertain future in Cleveland on social media on Tuesday. He issued a lengthy statement that felt like a goodbye note, although he insisted there is no “hidden meaning” behind the message.

“This is strictly to thank the city of Cleveland for embracing my family and me,” Mayfield explained. “We have made many memories and shared growing in this process through all the ups and downs.”

Mayfield is coming off a disappointing season that saw him struggle with injuries and consistency. He completed 60.5 percent of his passes while throwing for 3,010 yards and 17 touchdowns in 14 games. The Browns were 6-8 with him as a starter while finishing the season with an 8-9 record overall and missing the postseason.

The Cleveland Browns ended the NFL’s longest playoff drought on Sunday with a 24-22 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Browns improved to an 11-5 record with this victory, clinching the postseason spot for the first time since 2002.

The Browns entered the Steelers’ game as an overwhelming favorite thanks to the fact that Pittsburgh rested some of their starters, including quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. Cleveland’s job, however, turned out to be much harder than expected.

The Browns put up a good show in the first three quarters and had a 9-24 lead early in the fourth. Still, the Steelers didn’t have any intention to give up.

Led by backup Mason Rudolph, Pittsburgh scored touchdowns on consecutive possessions to cut into the Browns’ lead. After the second TD, they opted for a 2-point conversion to make it level, but Rudolph couldn’t find anyone open in the endzone.

The Steelers tried to get the ball back with an onside kick but failed to recover it, which gave Cleveland a chance to put an end to the game with a first down. And that came soon enough with Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield taking the ball past the marker and giving his team an enormous win.

“I’m really just happy for our fans,” said Cleveland head coach Kevin Stefanski. “They deserve this. And we’re happy to deliver this to them.”

“We’re not satisfied,” Mayfield added. “We expected to be here. We worked extremely hard to get here, and we’re excited to have the chance to be in the playoffs.”

The Browns will play the Steelers again on Sunday, this time in the first round of the playoffs. Curiously, the Browns’ last postseason appearance also came against Pittsburgh, with the Steelers getting the 36-33 win.
