Ace Clayton Kershaw is staying with the Los Angeles Dodgers. According to multiple reports, the two sides are in agreement on a one-year deal that also has a player option for the 2025 season.

Reportedly, Kershaw will undergo his physical in the coming days, after which the deal will become official. This will ensure that the 36-year-old player remains with the only franchise he knew since being selected seventh overall in the 2006 MLB draft by the Dodgers.

Kershaw is coming off a strong campaign in 2023, going 13–5 with a 2.46 ERA and 137 strikeouts. After the season wrapped up, Kershaw underwent shoulder surgery, which is expected to keep him out for the first part of 2024.

While Kershaw expressed interest in continuing to play, his return to the Dodgers wasn’t always certain. He played on short-term deals in the past couple of years, and there was a possibility he might suit up for his hometown team, the Texas Rangers. However, the Dodgers didn’t allow this to happen, and it appears that Kershaw will retire as a one-franchise player.

If Kershaw picks up his option for 2025, the Dodgers could have a fearsome rotation that would also include two-time AL MVP Shohei Ohtani, Japanese standout pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto, and veteran righty Tyler Glasnow.

Veteran ace Clayton Kershaw still doesn’t know where he’ll continue his MLB journey. In a recent chat with AM 570 LA Sports, Kershaw said that he’s undecided on returning to the Los Angeles Dodgers, the franchise with whom he spent his entire career in the majors.

Kershaw was in a similar position in the past two years, hitting the free agency before re-signing with the Dodgers on a one-year deal. This time around, his situation might be more complicated, considering he is rehabbing from shoulder surgery.

According to Kershaw, he is weighing his options and having discussions with his family in order to make the best decision. On Dodgers’ part, the president of baseball operations, Andrew Friedman, publicly stated that the franchise would welcome back the 35-year-old and that it’s up to Kershaw to decide whether he wants to continue playing with the team.

Kershaw also revealed that his recovery is going according to plan and that he will be ready to get back on the mound by summer.

“I’m excited to pitch again, and I really do think it’ll be this summer at some point,” Kershaw said. “So I feel good about that.”

During his time with the Dodgers, Kershaw made 10 All-Star appearances, won three NL Cy Young Awards and was NL MVP in 2014. He also helped the franchise win a World Series in 2020.

It is believed around the league that the only other team besides the Dodgers that Kershaw could play for are the Texas Rangers. He was born in Dallas and grew up as a Rangers fan.

The Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw is hoping that he can play baseball once again next summer after he underwent shoulder surgery on Friday. The surgery, with Dodgers head physician Dr. Neal ElAttrache, was done to repair the glenohumeral ligaments and his shoulder capsule.

“I am hopeful to return to play at some point next summer,” Kershaw announced on social media. “Thanks for your prayers!” Prior to his surgery, the pitcher was sidelined for six weeks due to his shoulder injury.

A free agent over the past three seasons, Kershaw has signed one-year contracts with the Dodgers for two years in a row in order to remain with the team. While this is his third year doing so, he has proven loyal to the Dodgers; the only team he has pitched for since beginning his career in the majors in 2008.

The Los Angeles Dodgers will have to embark on a quest to defend their World Series title without ace Clayton Kershaw. The veteran left-hander is still experiencing forearm discomfort and won’t be able to play in the playoffs, according to Dodgers manager Dave Roberts.

Earlier in the season, Kershaw missed more than two months while dealing with elbow and forearm issues. He returned in mid-September but got hurt once again late last week against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Kershaw’s injury came at a bad moment for the Dodgers as they counted on the 33-year-old pitcher to be one of their key players during what they hope will be a deep postseason run.

The timing is bad for the player as well, considering that he is set to enter the free agency this year. If healthy, Kershaw would undoubtedly find a big market, but it’s now unclear whether his injury issues will scare teams away.

However, Roberts did share some positive news, saying that Kershaw avoided a major injury and has his ulnar collateral ligaments intact. This means that he won’t need Tommy John surgery that would sideline him for the entire 2022 season.

Clayton Kershaw played 22 games for the Dodgers this season and has a 10-8 record. He posted a 3.55 ERA, his worst since his rookie year, while also having 144 strikeouts.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are World Series champions for the first time since 1988.

The Dodgers defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 3-1 to clinch the series in Game 6, getting the franchise its seventh title and first in over 30 years.

While nothing can be taken away from the great Dodgers team, many will remember Game 6 as a game that was lost by the Rays coaching staff.

Namely, Rays manager Kevin Cash pulled ace pitcher Blake Snell in the sixth inning, even though he was pitching lights out and obviously had plenty more in the tank.

This led to the Dodgers offense immediately taking advantage of Rays reliever Nick Anderson to take the lead.

While in the game, Snell dominated the Dodgers’ batters, holding them to two hits and striking out nine in 5 1/3 innings. Snell was pulled after Austin Barnes hit a single off him in the sixth inning. He had only thrown 73 pitches at that point.

Six pitches into Anderson’s time on the mound, the Rays 1-0 lead turned into a 2-1 deficit. Dodgers star Mookie Betts hit an insurance home run in the eighth, which was more than enough for the Dodgers to win the game and the title.

The win also gives future Hall of Fame pitcher Clayton Kershaw his first title, which was the only thing missing from his incredible MLB resume.

One of the major rule changes made for the 2020 MLB season was the addition of a runner on second base at the beginning of each extra inning frame.

Commissioner Rob Manfred argued that this rule would help eliminate marathon extra-inning games in the interest of player health in the condensed 2020 season.

While Manfred may have had his logic in implementing this new quirk, some players and managers were not so thrilled about the new rule. After he was asked about the new rule on Wednesday, you can add star Dodgers starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw to the list.

Kershaw was asked about the new rule after a 6-4 extra-innings win against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field, which saw the extra runner score to give the Dodgers a 5-4 lead.

Kershaw said, “it’s not real baseball, but it’s fine for this year, and I hope we never do it again.” Thankfully for Kershaw, while no decision has been made on the new rule in regular seasons going forward, it will not be included in this year’s postseason.

Interestingly, the Dodgers have come out on the right end of most of their extra innings matchups this season, going 5-1 in said games.

The Dodgers currently have baseball’s best record at a blistering 32-12, and look to be a lock for their eighth consecutive NL West pennant.

Clayton Kershaw has spent the last decade as one of the top pitchers in baseball, and has proven his elite status in the game by making his appearance on Opening Day for the Dodgers for a grand total of eight seasons.

In 2020, Kershaw will make that number nine.

Dave Roberts announced on Monday that Kershaw has been named the Opening Day starter for the team, a distinction that he has held every year since 2011, with the exception of last season.

Kershaw’s eight-start Opening Day streak was snapped after a shoulder injury delayed his start to the season.

The future Hall of Fame left-hander will return to his customary position on the bump to kick off the season for Los Angeles on March 26th at Dodger Stadium against the rival San Francisco Giants.

Kershaw has a reputation for good performances in the first game of the season. In his career, the Texas native has accumulated a 5-1 record with a 1.05 ERA on Opening Day.

The eight-time All-Star and three-time NL Cy Young Award winner will look to continue his good work for the Dodgers. Kershaw went 16-5 with a 3.03 ERA in 29 starts for the team last season, proving that he is still one of the top pitchers in the game.

He’ll be counted on once again in 2020 at the age of 32 to help propel the Dodgers to World Series contention.

Clayton Kershaw will continue playing for the Los Angeles Dodgers after he agreed to a $93 million three-year deal on Friday. The 30-year-old’s contract was due in 2020 but had the option to opt out as of last Friday.

Kershaw has been in Los Angeles for the past 11 seasons. He’s averaged 2.39 ERA in nearly 2100 innings, made it to the All-Star games seven times, won three Cy Young awards and won the league’s MVP in 2014.

In the recently completed World Series where the Dodgers lost to the Boston Red Sox 4-1, Kershaw seemed undecided of his future with the club.

After the World Series loss, Kershaw extended his opt-out timeline and began negotiating a contract extension deal. His previous deal with the Dodgers guaranteed $34.5 million in 2019 and $35 million in 2020. On Friday, the 30-year-old added $33 million to his contract and opted to remain in LA.

While Kershaw is one of the best players in the league, his performance in the last three seasons has been on a decline. A series of injuries have limited him to 175 innings in three seasons. His hit power has also lowered, averaging 91 mph as opposed to 95 mph ten years ago.

Despite the slight decline, Kershaw has remained the face of the Dodgers in the past five years. He’s well familiarized with the team. And despite their World Series back-to-back losses, he has quality players that could help push for a championship in the near future.

It has been 29 years since Los Angeles Dodgers have participated in the World Series, but that drought ended on Thursday night. The Dodgers faced defending champion Chicago Cubs in the National League Championship Series and won the game 5 with the result being 11-1. In the last season, Dodgers also faced the Cubs in the NLCS but lost the game. The Dodgers didn’t participate in the World Series since 1988. Since then, the team has made 10 post-season appearances without a title, which represents an MLB record.

Enrique Hernandez lead the Dodgers to win, adding one home run in the second inning and two in the ninth. He became the first Dodgers’ player with three home runs in a postseason game. He was backed by Clayton Kershaw who threw six innings. Entering the World Series, the Dodgers are now 7-1 in their eight postseason games. This came as a bit of a surprise, considering the ups and downs the team had in the regular season. After an incredible 56-11 run, which suggested they might challenge the league’s record for most wins in the season, the Dodgers went on to lose 16 out of 17 games played in August and September. The team ended the regular season with 104 wins, most in a season since the franchise moved to Los Angeles.

Up there with getting married and having kids, it’s right up there with one of the best days of my life,” Kershaw said after the game against he Cubs. “Winning the World Series is really all that we play this game for. All the individual stuff is great, but at the end of the day, I just want to win a World Series. If we win, I might retire, so I might just call it a career. It’s a special thing, and I know that I’m not taking that for granted.”

Before he became the highest-paid pitcher in baseball, he was a typical teen in Highland Park High School in University Park, Texas.

This is where he met his girlfriend Ellen Melson. After dating for seven years, the couple got married in 2010. In 2015, they welcomed their daughter Cali Ann.

At the age of 29, Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw has accomplished many career goals, including appearing at the MLB All-Star Game for seven straight years.

Clayton and Ellen are the co-founders of Kershaw Challenge, which was created back in 2011 to help children around the world through ministry.
