The Milwaukee Brewers and Toronto Blue Jays made one of the first trades of the Major League Baseball offseason on Monday, after the clubs agreed to a deal which will send right-handed pitcher Chase Anderson north of the border.

The Brewers shipped off one of their rotation mainstays over the past couple of years in exchange for infield prospect Chad Spanberger.

Anderson, who debuted in the Major Leagues in 2014 with the Arizona Diamondbacks, has started in 160 games in his career, accumulating a 53-40 win-loss record as well as a respectable 3.94 ERA.

He pitched a bit below his career standards for the Brew Crew in 2019, compiling a 4.21 ERA in 27 starts. He also appeared in 5 games as a reliever.

He is a durable starter who has missed minimal time over his career, eating innings and accumulating a healthy dose of strikeouts while occasionally being plagued by the home run.

The Brewers decided to part with Anderson due to his $8.5 million base salary next year combined with their other rotation options going into the 2020 season.

Anderson is expected to become one of the workhorses of a Blue Jays rotation that will look to help accelerate the team’s ongoing rebuild.
