Despite the issue, the organization is hopeful that LeVert won’t miss too much time and can be back on the court by the time the 2021-22 NBA season tips off, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

LeVert is reportedly set to undergo more tests that will reveal the full extent of the injury in the coming days.

LeVert joined Indiana back in January as part of a blockbuster trade that helped the Brooklyn Nets land superstar James Harden. The 27-year-old Michigan product started his stint with the franchise on the sidelines after undergoing surgery to remove a mass on his kidney but made a successful return to court in March. He finished the season playing 35 games in a Pacers jersey and averaged career-high 20.7 points and 4.6 rebounds per contest.

The Pacers were the team that drafted Caris LeVert to the NBA with the number 20 pick in the 2016 NBA Draft but ended up sending him to the Nets in exchange for Thaddeus Young. Levert played four and a half seasons for Brooklyn and averaged 13.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 1.1 steals per game.

If LeVert can’t return in time to start the season, the Pacers will most likely turn to veteran Jeremy Lamb for extended minutes. Rookie Chris Duarte, the number 13 pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, should get extended playing time in this case as well.

Brooklyn Nets now have another injury to overcome. The team announced on Thursday that shooting guard Caris LeVert underwent thumb surgery and he will miss four to six weeks recovering.

LeVert was initially out of Nets’ lineup in the past couple of games with what the team thought was a minor sprain. However, further tests showed that the 25-year-old is dealing with torn ligaments.

In a short statement about the procedure, Nets said that they will continue to provide updates regarding LeVert’s status “as appropriate.”

After improving in each of the past two seasons, Caris LeVert entered the 2019/2020 as one of Brooklyn Nets’ key players. He is currently averaging 16.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game, all of which are career highs.

After losing LeVert, the Nets have reportedly decided to dip into the free agents market and sign former Cleveland Cavaliers’ shooting guard Iman Shumpert. Shumpert was engaged in contract negotiations with Houston Rockets for the better part of the offseason, but the two sides couldn’t agree on a deal.

The Nets announced on Tuesday that LeVert, in fact, suffered a dislocated foot and won’t need surgery.

“Fortunately, tests performed this morning revealed that there are no fractures and only moderate ligament damage. While the optics of this injury may have appeared to be more severe, surgery will not be required.” – said Nets team orthopedist Dr. Martin O’Malley in a statement while adding that the 24-year old is “expected to return to full strength and resume all basketball activities without any limitations this season.”

Caris LeVert suffered the injury late in the first half of the Timberwolves game when he collided with Jeff Teague and landed hard on his right foot. He had to be carried off the court and was immediately taken to the hospital for evaluation. Before he left the game, LeVert managed to score 10 points, while also adding five assists and four rebounds.
