U.S. defender Cameron Carter-Vickers has officially ended his underwhelming stint with the Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur. The 24-year-old center-back secured a transfer to Celtic and has signed a four-year deal with the Scottish champion.

Carter-Vickers spent 2021-22 on loan with Celtic and played a key role in securing the club’s return to the top of the Scottish Premiership. He made 33 appearances in the domestic league and scored four goals in the process. This earned him PFA Scotland Team of the Year.

Despite his impressive showing in Scotland, there seemed to be no way for Cameron Carter-Vickers to crack Tottenham’s lineup. The Spurs seemed willing to cash on him sooner than later and were happy to take the ยฃ6 million Celtic offered.

Carter-Vickers spent most of his youth career with Tottenham before making his senior debut in F.A. Cup in 2016 as a 17-year-old. After that, he was hotly tipped to become the future of the Spurs’ defense, but things didn’t exactly work out that way for him.

In the next five years he only managed to make four more appearances, and neither came in Premier League. Carter-Vickers instead spent the majority of the time on loans with various clubs, including Ipswich Town, Stoke City, and AFC Bournemouth.

Carter-Vickers played for various U.S. youth selections before making his USMNT debut in 2017. He has played ten games on the international stage for the United States since.
