Announcing his retirement from NFL last month, former Denver Broncos back C.J. Anderson said that he wants to pursue a coaching job. As it turns out, he didn’t have to wait for too long to get one.

Anderson’s alma mater Cal announced on Tuesday that Anderson joined the Golden Bears staff and will serve as a volunteer quality control coach on offense.

Anderson played two years of college football for California University (2012-2013), rushing for 1,135 yards and 12 touchdowns in 25 games.

“It feels good to come home,” said Anderson. “When I was playing here or in the NFL, I was too busy to notice a lot of the other things that are here. I take a look around and I see my jersey on the wall or some of the accomplishments I’ve earned. It’s nice to kind of give back to the Bears and keep the tradition going here, whether it’s getting back to winning here or putting the talent here into the NFL.”

C.J. Anderson went undrafted in the 2013 NFL Draft but landed a deal with Denver Broncos. He spent five years with the organization, helping Broncos to win Super Bowl 50 and earning one Pro Bowl appearance during that span.

Anderson later also played with Carolina Panthers, LA Rams, and Detroit Lions. He

In a way, running back C.J. Anderson saved the Los Angeles Rams last season. When they temporary lost Todd Gurley to an injury, Rams signed Anderson, and he responded with two monster games in the regular season while also playing meaningful snaps in the postseason. Despite this, the 28-year-old is still without a job.

Anderson was recently asked by one fan on Twitter where he will sign next, and the one-time Pro Bowler said he doesn’t know while adding that he feels its “disrespectful” he is still without a job.

“The disrespect is real guess,” Anderson wrote on Twitter. “It is what It is. It’s the same story over and over. All I ever wanted was a full opportunity to play 16. My 16 vs anybody else 16 with no front office / coach trying to move me out the way or play we like this guy game. Just want a 16 all I ask.”

During his six years in the NFL, C.J. Anderson had the opportunity to play all 16 regular season games only once and managed to pass the 1,000 rushing yards mark. It remains to be seen whether some NFL team will give him the chance to try and replicate this success.

Anderson, who previously also played with Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers, is averaging 4.5 rushing yards per carry through his career. His NFL career stats include 3,454 rushing yards for 22 touchdowns alongside 108 receptions for 900 yards and five touchdowns.

Although they were the first NFL team to be out of the playoff picture in 2018, Oakland Raiders still want to earn some respect before the season ends. The team announced several roster moves on Wednesday, including the signing of former Denver Broncos running back C.J. Anderson, defensive end Kony Ealy, who was the second round pick in 2014, and cornerback Bene Benwikere.

In corresponding moves, Raiders placed safety Reggie Nelson, linebacker Shilique Calhoun and wide receiver Martavis Bryant on the injured reserve list.

After going undrafted in 2013 NFL Draft, C.J. Anderson signed with the Denver Broncos. During his time in Denver, he managed to win a Super Bowl and earn himself a Pro Bowl appearance. After Broncos released him following the end of 2017 season, Anderson signed with the Carolina Panthers in March 2018. He played nine games for Carolina, rushing for 104 yards and having a touchdown reception, before being released mid-November. The 27-year-old visited several teams in the past couple of weeks, including the Kansas City Chiefs, before settling in Oakland.

Kony Ealy had an eye-catching start of his NFL career when he got selected in PFWA All-Rookie Team in 2014 as the member of Carolina Panthers. After another solid season in 2015, Ealy started struggling with consistency and ended up being traded in early 2017 to New England Patriots. He also had short stints with New York Jets and Dallas Cowboys since then.

Raiders will be Bene Benwikere’s seventh NFL team in the last two years. The 27-year-old appeared in 11 games for the Arizona Cardinals in 2018, recording 51 tackles, one interception and four deflected passes before being released in late November.

Carolina Panthers made another addition to their roster on Monday, signing former Denver Broncos running back C.J. Anderson to a one-year deal. Anderson was released by Broncos on April 16, after spending previous five years with the team.

The style that Carolina likes to play definitely fits my style and my game,” – Anderson told ESPN. “As far as ground and pound, the ‘Keep Pounding’ slogan Carolina uses fits well. My game is breaking tackles and finding ways to use that and make long plays.

I just felt this was the best team for me. I get to play the type of style I want to play.” – he explained his decision to sign with the Panthers.

Carolina Panthers have their starting running back in Christian McCaffrey, so C.J. Anderson will look to compete with Cameron Artis-Payne to be the second-string back. He will also help the Panthers to fill the void that was left after the team decided to release Jonathan Stewart.

C.J. Anderson signed with the Denver Broncos in 2013 as an undrafted free agent. He earned his first and only Pro-Bowl appearance in 2014 and was the part of the Broncos team that won the Super Bowl 50.

In 2017, Anderson had his first 1,000 rushing yards season in his career while adding three rushing touchdowns. He also had 224 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown.

He’s coming off a 1,000-plus yard season and gives us another good runner to compete with the other good backs we have,” – said Panthers’ general manager Marty Hurney. “He runs with excellent pad level, has great vision and consistently gets yards after contact.

Despite the strong showing, Broncos decided to release him in order to save more than $9 million in cap salary while giving their young running backs Devontae Booker and De’Angelo Henderson more playing time.
