The Cleveland Browns came from behind to end their 635-days losing run with a 21-17 win over the New York Jets Thursday night.

Rookie Baker Mayfield starred the Cleveland-based team to their first win almost two years. The last time Browns won was on the eve of Christmas in 2016, defeating the Los Angeles Chargers 20-17. Last Sunday, they almost won as they led 12-3 against the New Orleans Saints, only to blow the lead and lose 21-18.

While the team looked united and energetic in all areas, Mayfield ignited the win. With the Browns trailing 14-0, the 23-year-old completed 17 of 23 passes, connected a goal and caught a two-point try to force a tie in the third quarter.

Mayfield expressed his joy at the team’s win right after showing coach Hue Jackson should make him the season starter and not Tyrod Taylor.

“This crowd deserved to see that first win at home. And so that’s the thing I’m most proud of, we put it together for the fans at home, Mayfield said. “I felt the energy. That was an unbelievable feeling.”

To celebrate the win, Beer Company Bud Light offered free drinks around the city as part of the company’s promotion campaign. For running back Carlos Hyde, the win couldn’t have come at a better time. After completing two touchdowns and helping the Browns win, the 28-year-old went home to celebrate the birth of his son.

First overall pick of the 2017 NFL Draft Myles Garrett will finally make his NFL debut on Sunday in the Cleveland Browns‘ game against the New York Jets. Garrett didn’t play for the Browns in the regular season after suffering high ankle sprain in practice on September 6. A week ago, he returned to practice and was in limited participation this week. The news about Garrett being available for the Jets game was confirmed by the Browns on Friday.

“It’s exciting not just for myself, but for him and his teammates,” head coach Hue Jackson said Friday. He also added that he doesn’t want to physically overload Garrett since he was out for such a long time and that the team has to be “smart” with the expectations from him.

“It is exciting. I am ready to play, ready to show what I can do.” – said Garrett at the press conference. “It is just about doing what I can, making the plays I am supposed to make and be who I am supposed to be on the field; not be out of my gap or not missing any assignments and then once I correct all of those and I have no hesitation or anything holding me back, then I can try to step forward and have a bigger role.”

Garrett also said that he wanted to play last week but that the team didn’t allow him to do so, fearing that it could be too soon.

The 21-year-old defensive end played his college football at Texas A&M and was named First-team All-American and First-team All-SEC in both 2015 and 2016. During his college career, Garrett had 141 tackles and 31.0 sacks alongside 1 interception and 7 forced fumbles. After his junior year at college, he entered the 2017 NFL draft where the Browns took him with the No.1 pick.
