Retired quarterback Brock Osweiler, known for famously unseating Hall of Famer Peyton Manning as Denver Broncos starter for a short while, has found a new job. According to Al Butler of UPI, Osweiler is venturing into broadcasting.

Osweiler is reportedly joining ESPN and will serve as the network’s college football analyst. He is expected to start his new gig once the new college season kicks off.

Brock Osweiler, who was a standout for the Arizona State at college, entered the NFL as the Broncos’ second-round pick in 2012. He only saw relief action in his first three seasons as a pro before getting his big chance during the 2015 campaign.

After starter Peyton Manning threw four interceptions in Week 10 against the Kansas City Chiefs, Osweiler entered the game in the third quarter and put together an encouraging display. Osweiler went on to start seven games from that point on, going 5-2 and positioning Denver as the contender for the top seed in AFC East.

However, two interceptions and a fumble in the season finale sent Osweiler back to the bench. Manning stepped in, turned the game around, and then led the franchise to a Super Bowl 50 win.

Osweiler later played for the Houston Texans, had another stint with the Broncos, and spent time with the Miami Dolphins before retiring in 2019 at the age of 28. He finished his pro career with 7,418 passing yards, 37 touchdowns, and 31 interceptions.

28-year-old free agent Brock Osweiler announced he is retiring from the NFL through a news station in Denver.

Osweiler was the fill in starter for the Miami Dolphins last season and went 2-3 while taking over for the injured Ryan Tannehill. During that stretch, he threw for a career high 380 yards in a victory over the Bears and gave hope to Miami fans rooting for a dismal Dolphins team.

Besides for his most recent role with the Dolphins, Osweiler is best remembered for filling in for an injured Peyton Manning on the 2015 Broncos. He went 5-2 and helped Denver secure the AFC top seed, which eventually led to their Super Bowl victory.

His success in Denver led to a big $72 million contract signed with Houston in 2016, but after one inconsistent season, he was traded, and eventually ended up back with the Broncos for the 2017 season.

Osweiler played for 3 different teams over 7 NFL seasons and was quoted as saying that he was “extremely grateful for the time I did receive playing in the NFL.”

According to ESPN, the Colts brought in veteran free-agent QB Brock Osweiler for a workout on Tuesday. The organization is reportedly interested in making him a backup to Brissett for the 2019 NFL season if he ends up performing well.
