New York Jets acted swiftly after wideout Robby Anderson decided to leave the franchise this offseason and join Carolina Panthers. The team agreed to a deal with journeyman wide receiver Breshad Perriman.

Perriman joins the Jets after he spent 2019 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and posted career highs all across the board. In 14 games (four starts), he caught 36 passed for 645 yards and six touchdowns.

The news was confirmed by Perriman’s agent Drew Rosenhaus, who told ESPN that his client signed a one-year deal worth $8 million. The contract includes $6 million in guarantees.

With Breshad Perriman, New York Jets will have a solid deep threat for their young quarterback Sam Darnold while managing to stay under the budget. Perriman, on the other hand, might be in for another breakthrough season as he now immediately becomes a No.1 option on the WR position.

Perriman entered the league in 2015 when Baltimore Ravens took him in the first round of the NFL draft.  After missing his entire rookie year with a knee injury, he bounced back with a solid sophomore campaign but never managed to make a bigger impact.

Perriman, who also played with Cleveland Browns, has 95 career receptions for 1,561 yards and 11 TDs.

Cleveland Browns finally signed a wide receiver, and surprisingly enough, it is not Dez Bryant. Instead, Browns’ general manager John Dorsey decided to sign former Baltimore Ravens WR Breshad Perriman.

Perriman, who was a first round pick in 2015, failed to make the Ravens’ 53-man roster and was released in September. The 25-year-old was then picked up by Washington Redskins but was waived after spending only two days with the team.

Browns have issues with the depth of their receiving core after trading away Josh Gordon and having to deal with several injuries. Rashard Higgins is currently out with a sprained MCL, Derrick Willies underwent surgery to repair his fractured collarbone, while veteran Rod Streater suffered a neck fracture against the Chargers on Sunday and will be out for the season. This leaves Browns with only three healthy wide receivers in Jarvis Landry, Antonio Callaway, and Damion Ratley.

After impressive three years at UCF, Breshad Perriman entered the 2015 NFL Draft where Baltimore Ravens took him 26th overall. He, however, never managed to find his footing since turning pro, and has struggled with injuries and inconsistency.

During his three years in the league, Perriman had 43 receptions for 576 yards and three touchdowns. He also had eight drops in the last two season, which ranks him third worst in the league during that period.
