It seems like veteran wide receiver Brandon Marshall just can’t keep a job this season. After being released by the Seattle Seahawks earlier in the season, Marshall now parted ways with his new team New Orleans Saints as well.

The Saints announced on Thursday that they have decided to cut the 34-year-old due to several reasons including a need for a roster spot and the return of receiver Ted Ginn Jr. Offensive tackle Derek Newton was added to the team instead of Marshall.

According to New Orleans’ head coach Sean Payton, Brandon Marshall might find his way back on the team in the future.

“The decision was, we had an opportunity to claim a player,” – said Payton said. “And we feel like Ted is close to coming back. And look, we still might be in a position to possibly bring Brandon back. But yesterday, we needed a roster spot.“

Brandon Marshall, who is a six-time Pro Bowler, started the season with the Seahawks, catching 11 passes for 136 yards and one touchdown in six games before being releasing in October. He was signed by the Saints mid-November but failed to make a single appearance.

This most likely means that Marshall will continue his playoff drought. He played a total of 178 regular-season games in his NFL career, without ever making it to the postseason.
