The Atlanta Hawks’ shooting guard Bogdan Bogdanovic had surgery to deal with a lingering knee injury. The news was confirmed by the Hawks in a statement issued on Tuesday.

Bogdanovic struggled with knee issues throughout the 2022-23 and was sidelined for 19 games in the regular season. The 29-year-old Serbian also missed time in the playoffs, being ruled out for the deciding Game 5 of the first-round series against the Miami Heat.

According to the Hawks, Bogdanovic “will rehabilitate over the offseason” and is expected to make a “full recovery” in time for the 2022-23 season.

It is unclear whether Bogdanovic actually starts the new season with the Hawks. After a disappointing season, Atlanta is expected to shake things up a bit, and Bogdanovic has been mentioned as one of the players they are willing to include in potential deals.

Bogdan Bogdanovic has had a good 2021-22 campaign with the Hawks on paper, considering he averaged 15.1 points, 3.1 assists, and career-high 4.0 rebounds per game. However, it looks like a disappointment compared to his first year in Atlanta. Bogdanovic had stretches in which he struggled to shoot the ball and was inconsistent from beyond the three-point arc. He shot 36.8 percent on three-pointers this season compared to 43.8 percent in the season before.

The Atlanta Hawks were flying high to begin the 2020-21 NBA season, but now they might have trouble staying in the air. The team lost their big free-agency signing Bogdan Bogdanovic to a knee injury over the weekend, and it appears that the 28-year-old Serbian could miss an extended period of time recovering.

Bogdanovic suffered the injury in a 113-105 loss to the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday. He was bringing the ball up the floor when he stepped awkwardly and his knee gave up.

The Hawks confirmed the injury on social media, saying that Bogdanovic has an “avulsion fracture” in his right knee and is out indefinitely.

Atlanta still isn’t sure how much time Bogdanovic will miss and will share an update later in the week. This type of injury is usually treated by rest and exercises, although surgery might be necessary in some cases.

Bogdanovic’s injury arrives at a bad time for the Hawks, as the team is trying to end a four-game losing streak. In the first five games of the season, they had a 4-1 record.

Bogdan Bogdanovic signed with the Hawks at the beginning of the free agency, inking a four-year, $72 million contract. It doesn’t look like a good deal for Atlanta so far, as Bogdanovic started slower than expected. He is currently averaging a career-low 9.9 points while shooting just 38.5 percent from the field.

The Milwaukee Bucks won’t have a second-round selection in the 2022 NBA Draft after the NBA decided to penalize the team for a failed trade that involved shooting guard Bogdan Bogdanovic.

The decision comes after a recent investigation showed that the Bucks made contact with Bogdanovic and the player’s agent before the free-agency discussions were allowed, thus violating the league’s tampering rules.

The initial deal saw Milwaukee making a deal with the Sacramento Kings to acquire Bogdanovic in a sign-and-trade for Donte DiVincenzo, D.J. Wilson, and Ersan Ilyasova. However, the trade fell through several days later after the 28-year-old Serbian decided he wanted to explore free agency.

Since the Bucks were cooperative and there was no evidence that they made a formal contract offer to Bogdanovic, the franchise only lost their second-rounder instead of receiving a harsher penalty.

“We were intentional and fully compliant and cooperative with the NBA from the get,” said Milwaukee general manager Jon Horst in a statement. “The decision’s been made, and we’re moving on. We’re really excited about the season starting tomorrow, and we’ll kind of take it from there.”

Bogdan Bogdanovic ended up with the Atlanta Hawks, signing a four-year, $72 million sheet offer that the Kings declined to match.

Serbian sharpshooter Bogdan Bogdanovic has officially become a member of the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday. He will join the organization on a four-year, $72 million deal.

Bogdanovic spent the previous three seasons with Sacramento Kings, where he averaged 13.5 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game. Considering he was a restricted free agent, the Kings had the opportunity to keep him if they matched Atlanta’s offer but ended up deciding against it.

Bogdanovic previously almost joined Milwaukee Bucks. Kings had the deal in place with Bucks to sign-and-trade Bogdanovic, but the player ended up rejecting the move as he wanted to explore the market.

It proved to be a good gamble, as Bogdanovic received a bigger contract than his actual market value.

When the move became official, the player went on Twitter to thank the Kings and the city of Sacramento.

The Kings’ decision to let Bogdanovic go was influenced by the team’s salary cap situation. If they had taken him at the projected price, it would severely limit the moves they are able to make roster-wise in the future. According to reports, the addition of Iowa State’s Tyrese Haliburton in the recent draft also played a role as the organization now feels they have a deep enough backcourt.

The Atlanta Hawks, on the other hand, willingly overpaid for Bogdanovic. They view him as a good addition to their roster because of his shooting ability and believe he could play an important role as they are trying to find their way back to the playoffs.

After a disappointing playoff exit in 2019/20, Milwaukee Bucks started working on ways to improve their roster in order to impress reigning MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo and convince him to ink a long-term extension with the team. And it appears they are on a great track to pull that off.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Bucks acquired Sacramento Kings’ sharpshooter Bogdan Bogdanovic and New Orleans Pelicans’ guard Jrue Holiday in separate trades on Monday.

Bogdanovic was an impending restricted free agent, so Bucks are acquiring the Serbian in a sign-and-trade type of deal. Kings will receive Donte DiVincenzo, D.J. Wilson, and Ersan Ilyasova in return.

The package that Milwaukee gave up for Holiday is even bigger. Pelicans will receive guards Eric Bledsoe and George Hill as well as significant draft compensation.

Wojnarowski reports that Bucks will send Indiana Pacers’ first-round pick in 2020 as well as unprotected first-round picks in 2025 and 2027 to New Orleans. As part of the deal, the Pelicans will also have the option to swap picks in 2024 and 2026.

The two trades significantly add to Bucks’ already talented squad while addressing some of their biggest needs.

Bogdan Bogdanovic is a proven shooter in the league, having the ability to create a shot for himself while being extremely efficient from catch-and-shoot threes in recent seasons with Kings. Bogdanovic averaged career-high 15.1 points in 2019/20 while shooting 37.2 percent from deep and 44.0 from the field.

Jrue Holiday, on the other hand, comes with a reputation as one of the NBA’s best defenders and a player who has consistently produced during his time in the league. Holiday, who has one All-Star appearance to his name, finished the past season with 19.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, 6.7 assists, and 1.6 steals per game.

Sacramento Kings are willing to give their Bogdan Bogdanovic a max contract extension this year, but that still might not be enough for the Serbian shooting guard to ink a new deal.

Speaking with The Sacramento Bee on Tuesday, Bogdanovic said that the team has offered him a four-year, $51.4 million max extension, but he isn’t sure he will sign it.

“They did, but we will wait to see,” – said Bogdanovic. “Maybe we will sign tomorrow. Maybe we sign in a month. Who knows? We will see.”

The 27-year-old says he would like to stay with the franchise, but “doesn’t want to rush” into signing a deal.

“I would like to stay,”- he added. “Everyone knows that I love Sacramento. Everyone loves to be here. It’s a great group of guys. I’m happy right now, and I was happy all these years, but I don’t want to rush anything.”

Bogdan Bogdanovic is likely considering an option to play out this upcoming season and then become a restricted free agent next year. This would give him an opportunity to get an even bigger extension from Kings or some other team next summer. He is set to earn $9 million in 2019/20 as part of a three-year, $27 million deal he signed two years ago.

Bogdanovic played 70 games with Sacramento last season and averaged 14.1 points, 3.8 assists, and 3.5 rebounds.
